For those of you that watched any part of the just concluded Winter Games, what was your favorite moment? I mean here, the one particular event or moment in an event that you found most thrilling or enduring to you.

Canadians..... you can't give the overtime hockey win against the U.S. as your favorite. I know, it saved the country from a dismal next 4 years, put life back into the Loonie and all that, but try to find something else. Wellllll...maybe you can't! ::wink: Just kidding.

Mine...the USA 4 man bobsled gold medal. Not a gold since 1948 when I was 5 years old (really). To lead for all 4 runs is truly impressive and even more so on that course. Hats off to driver Holcomb and his crew. Not only did they get the Gold, they got a brand new set of underwear from the designer of the course. :thumbright:

Gonna sound strange coming from an American, maybe even stranger to a Canadian-

I watched all of the curling. After the American men got their asses handed to them (they are all from Minnesota, btw :tongue3: ) I switched my allegiance to the Canadian team.

In the gold medal match, the crowd sang the Canadian National Anthem with the Canadians ahead, but the match not over. The play stopped as they sang.

I thought it was awesome. The pride that the Canadian team showed was very obvious, and while impossible to know the depth of just how good that must have felt, you sure had a pretty good idea. :thumbleft:

quite impossible vor me to bring this down to one moment as it were olympic games with so many highlights. i'll take a ranking.

5. the skip of the german curling team, andrea schpp, got her ass whopped throughout the turnament. a very dislikeable person who was my lecturer at university of munich. she talked shit about the german olympic team and her opponents. finally she let me fail an imprtant test at university 9 years ago. so every loss of the german team was a good loss. i felt sorry about the other players stella hei and melanie robillard, though.

4. when the canadian freestyle skier alexandre bilodeau won the first gold medal for canada in men's moguls and and dedicated his gold medal to his disabled brother frederik. classy guy.

3. the most curious moment of the games. the dutch skater sven kramer, gold favorite in 10000m skating, won the race with 6 seconds and was disqualified afterwards, because his stupid coach showed him the wrong track *ouch* unbelievable.

2. one day after a horrible crash in downhill skiing swedish skier anja prsson won bronze in the alpine combination. after the crash i thought she wouldn't participate in a race for the next year, but she is a real fighting nature. well deserved medal.

1. germanys 2 time olympic champion and one time silver medalist in biathlon, magdalena neuner, passed on the team competition to give her teammate martina beck (5th german athlete in biathlon) a chance to win a medal with the german team. germany finished 3rd with beck and without neuner.

Curling. All of it. Love it. I know it's the cool thing to like right now, but I can't help it. So frickin' addictive.

The true best moment of the Olympics was the moment it ended, so I don't have to hear about Lindsey Vonn anymore. That got real old, real quick.

The most memorable moment for me was ... the look in Joannie Rochette's eyes after she completed her run. I could fully relate to the emotions rushing through her soul. Watching her try to subtly fight back the tears while she was one the podium, turning, looking up, down, ... seeing the tears swell up and her trying to suck them back in ... it brought me back to the moment I found out similar news that she had had endured only days before performing in front of the wolrd. I wanted to reach out and tell her that I knew how she felt and offer any advice I could give. It was a pretty rough medal ceremony to watch and I'm sure shes wondering how she made it through it.

I was amazed at the US men's 4 man Bobsled team.
Stunned at Demong in the Nordac Combined.
Speachless after Shaun White's 2nd run in Snowboard Halfpipe.
Laughed at Russian Evgeni Plushenko who sulked and pouted and bad mouthed Evan Lysacek in men's skating.
I was glad that Shani Davis and Apolo Ohno did fairly well in what is no doubt their final Olympics.
But I guess I really felt for Joannie Rochette. I was not home to see her performance and may not have watched it anyway. All right my wife would have watched so I would have at least been in the room. What she over came and still got the bronze was simply wonderful I loved the expression on the young American Mirai Nagasu when she realized that she finished 4th. It is not all abolut the medals.

I find it interesting how freezing a moment in time, as in the below snapshot, can be so deceptive. Someone like Joannie Rochette is graceful on the ice, yet this picture makes her look awkward as all get-out.

Well since I can't use the obvios (God Bless You Sidney)
and obviously Rochette's bronze in figure skating but I'll saythe feeling over the country after the hockey game. For a country that lacks the pride and patiorism the Americans have seeing the streets filled from coast to coast after that hockey game and breaking a gold medal record for a winter olympics has given me a new feeling of love and pride for my country. I love the fact that across sports bars across the country therer were lineups at 8:00 am for the hockey game just cause people wanted to share it with others. Our arena in Winnipeg had 1200 people in it to watch the game. Reports said that on average 16.6 million Canadians were watching the game and 26 million watched some part of it. Pretty cool when there's only 34 million in the country. Congrats to the Americans for breaking the overall medal count record :thumbleft:

My favorite moment of this Olympics was easily the triumph of Eric Moussambani, the William Hung of Olympic sports:

So many things come to mind when I see that picture, but thinking about how awkward she looks is NOT one of them.
