LOL... alright it is plausible.. might not be logical to me, but it could be plausible.

Now.. is it legal? lol.

Also.. if he hired someone to pack his bag for a flight.. they should be fired. lol.

How in the world do you miss the fact that there is a gun in the bag.

Talk about making an excuse for personal responsibility as well.. we are talking about the safety of the other passengers and their right to a safe environment. Shaun Rodgers failed... and now he sits in jail.

PFT- Shaun Rodgers still in jail

Shaun Rogers is still in jail
Posted by Mike Florio on April 2, 2010 12:02 PM ET
Arrested Thursday for possession of a loaded gun as he prepared to build board an airplane, Browns defensive tackle Shaun Rogers remains in jail.

According to the Associated Press, Rogers has asked either to be charged or to be released from custody.

Rogers' lawyer fears that the player will be held without charges over the Easter weekend. And, presumably, Rogers really needs his basket full of Peeps.

In the comments:

"Maybe the police forgot he's still there."

I don't care who you are (except Rogers)--That is funny.

Definitely not, as far as I'm aware. I don't think it's that big of a deal, though.

Eh, I don't think it goes that far. All you have to do is walk into the stewardesses area and take a pot of scalding coffee/water, and you can be almost as dangerous. The safety of other passengers and their right to that safe environment is in the hands of the collective passengers. Besides, I think we are forgetting an important detail.. There were only 6 rounds in that gun. Not the best gun to take over a plane with. So even if he brought it to be used on the plane (which is what every article I've seen made to look like), after the gun starts clicking because it's empty.. Then what? Mr. Air Marshal guy probably has his ass down before he got a 2nd shot off, anyway.

I dunno. Despite his obvious lack of responsibility, I'm not ready to crucify him over something like this.

Like I said, the bigger issue to me is, is he licensed to be carrying that gun.

Jeremy--

If he had a cwp, he should be a friggin' EXPERT on the right and wrong. As far as I am concerned, if he did have a cwp, it make his stupidity and carelessness MORE of a crime, not less.

I am not putting this in the category of some heinous crime, btw--just heinous stupidity. He should still be punished.

Formo has really derailed on this one. Shaun Rogers could have accidently left his gun in an elementary school restroom, and he would be saying, "Eh, not that big of a deal. It happens. The gun was registered. Leave him alone! "

There is nothing wrong with defending someones right to carry. But Formo does so to the point of being irrational.

So a "loaded" gun in a pressurized cabin with what a 100 to 200 people, what happens the gun accidentally goes off? Did he forget to put it on safety as well.

I am not trying to claim him a terrorist or whack job... but incredibly irresponsible and more than likely too damn lazy to check is carry on prior to flight.

It is a felony and he has been charged.. as he should. Regardless the reason the gun was in the bag.

No 3rd grader has access (or should have access) to Rogers' carry on. Moot point. I'm just bringing in the other perspective. Like I said in response to 93z, he's being crucified for something that didn't hurt a soul and for something no one can prove the intentions of. We all know he jacked up. He shouldn't be crucified because of the minor infraction, IMO.

I agree.. Now, define weapon? A metal spoon when used with the right force and intentions could be dangerous. I'm not saying that we shouldn't take guns seriously.

See... we are closer to sharing the same opinion that not.. and you thought we never agree.. lol.

I don't think he should be viewed as some whack job.. a lazy irresponsible over glorified space eater yes... but loose nut no.

But I refuse to accept his behavior because he was too freaking lazy to inspect his carry on. With the size restrictions these days.. what would it take... a few minutes?

Pack93z, the gun was registered; therefore it doesn't matter how irresponsible he was. Leave the guy alone! (Sarcasm)
