Brett is the best ever? The numbers would beg to differ. He might -- might -- be in the top ten, but that's stretching it.

Brett Favre is a top 5 QB of all-time for sure if he retires now. Absolutely no question. Maybe top 3 even.

I'd rank him behind Joe Montana and Dan Marino.

If you go by raw numbers, perhaps. Anyone who's played as many games as he would have incredible raw numbers. But if you put his numbers in perspective -- that is, make rates and percentages out of them -- they fade quickly into the pack.

I would love if you did some research to back this up. I'm pretty sure Favre's TD averages per season are pretty high when compared against "legendary" QBs.

Awe quarterback ranking, my favorite subject.

Elway, Favre, P. Manning, then Marino. The system quarterbacks don't compare to the gun slingers. Championships are won by teams and luck, not overrated drivers of offenses.

Finland, have a look at these numbers  for starters.

In the words of holyterra:

There are lots of QBs that are not only more consistent, but consistently better than Favre. He is about 17th on the list of all time career rating. It took a 107 this year to climb above Trent Green. He is still behind Daunte Culpepper and Jeff Garcia.

I'll believe it when I see it. I'll still take him back if he pulled what he did last year, despite the contract. Hell, I'll be willing to wait until the regular season kicks off to have him come back.

So far all I've seen are rumors, never a direct quote from Favre. So who knows what the deal is..

They could've drafted Jimmy Clausen in the late first or early second.

"Formo" wrote:

They were never interested in Clausen.. with or without Favre. They didn't invite him for workouts and I believe they never even attended any of his pro day stuff either.

Fair enough. If they were really interested, they would've drafted him as their long term solution, anyway.

I believe it a week before the New Orleans game. Once Minnesota starts game planning for the Saints, that's the point of no return.

If he's physically able to play, he'll play.

I think its all funny, but still think he's playing in 2010.

Some say 'Brett didnt say it so Im not worried'. I say bull. Brett himself said he was done twice in six months and then three weeks after the latter, unretired. So, what he says, means squat.

I think its funny because its all over the media again and it has Vikings fan's ... thinking. Surely most of them realize, he's most likely returning, but for the group that's fretting ... weee dogggggie!

beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Apparently it is too complicated for several to follow your simple instructions, but I digress
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Zero- Did you see what I posted about Voice of Reason and his wife? She posted over at fleaflicker that they are both "In"
Zero2Cool (7-Aug) : Well, not crazy, it makes sense. Crazy I didn't notice/find it earlier

Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : *to be able
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : and because it's not a dynasty league (which makes a lot more sense to be ability to trade picks)
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Oh I know; I was just exploring and it blew my mind that you could trade picks because of the whole reordering thing
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Zero, I think I preferred my offer: your 1st for my 15th rounder

beast (2-Aug) : I believe it's technically against the CBA rules, but Jerry just calls it a simple unofficial chat... and somehow gets away with it.
beast (2-Aug) : Jerry Jones is infamous for ̶n̶e̶g̶o̶t̶i̶a̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ chatting with players one on one... and going around the agent.
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Oo just saw a blurb saying that Dallas negotiated directly with Parsons and not through his agent
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : I assumed that both guys will get paid, just a matter of when or how we get there
Zero2Cool (1-Aug) : McLaurin nor Micah going anywhere. They will get money
