I'm certainly not TRYING to be a "told you so" type guy here, but to those that actually thought there was a legitimate risk of Jolly serving multiple years in prison, some even saying 20 + years . . . what were you smoking?? =)

Having been through similar procedures within the legal system, I knew Jolly wouldn't be in a ton of trouble. There are a number of different programs for first time offenders that allow a "second chance" if you will to clean their name, and rightfully so.

However, I'm sure Jolly will have a series of responsibilities as a part of this agreement. Probably something like a year of supervised probation, drug tests, drug programs, community service, etc.

I'm hoping the guy turns things around because he can be a solid player in this league. Best of luck to you, Jolly.

You mean me? Actually, later in our discussion I said that it was more likely that he would take a plea agreement and probably get about a year. The 20 was more if he went through with a trial and lost. I also was saying that he was up against the 20 because in TX law, they count the total volume of the syrup, not just the codeine in it. If he was busted in Michigan with their truth in sentencing laws, the judge couldn't look at it as just a bottle of prescription cough syrup. He would have had a mandatory sentence for 200 grams of controlled substances, which I think is a life sentence. TX is different, fortunately for Jolly, and they can make a rational decision base on the circumstances of the case.

I actually think that a year suspension is the best thing for the Packers. It gives Jolly a year to prove that he can be clean. If he comes back, he will be worthy of a second chance. If he screws up again, it doesn't put the Packers in a hole for having cut a lineman that would have made the team otherwise just to lose Jolly again. Jolly's contract is on hold until after his suspension and will just resume where it left off. It is also a good thing if one of the rookie D linemen step up and prove something.
I want to go out like my Grandpa did. Peacefully in his sleep.
Not screaming in terror like his passengers.

I really wasn't speaking about what COULD happen. I just know from personal experience (between myself and especially some friends) what would ACTUALLY come of it. It's interesting to think about what could happen I guess, but I was just focused on what was more likely. Regardless of all that, I'm just glad he got off easy, because I'd like to see him back.

Mucky Tundra (5h) : and because it's not a dynasty league (which makes a lot more sense to be ability to trade picks)
Mucky Tundra (5h) : Oh I know; I was just exploring and it blew my mind that you could trade picks because of the whole reordering thing

beast (2-Aug) : Jerry Jones is infamous for ̶n̶e̶g̶o̶t̶i̶a̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ chatting with players one on one... and going around the agent.
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Oo just saw a blurb saying that Dallas negotiated directly with Parsons and not through his agent
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : I assumed that both guys will get paid, just a matter of when or how we get there
Zero2Cool (1-Aug) : McLaurin nor Micah going anywhere. They will get money

Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Site will die, I have to restart it.
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Quinn stinks. Lot of underthrows. (my guess)

dfosterf (30-Jul) : All I've experienced was late at night or early morning. I just figured you were doing something in the background
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Site sure seems to be down more than up
dfosterf (29-Jul) : 50 cent hookers? I'm moving to Green Bay. I thought it was just real estate that was more affordable there. 😂

Mucky Tundra (27-Jul) : Golden with two TDs in red zone drills today
