I think anyone ripping on Bishop for his coverage... they better watch Hawk's effort on last nights game... serious toast.

Very much.

There's a reason why they went with Matthews - Bishop - Barnett - Chillar in a special 3-4 coverage heavy package in TC.

I still would've liked Sean Lee. He went 1 pick before Mike Neal.

1st team defense played with no intensity. Again, preseason, but it doesn't help ease any fears about the defense we saw at the end of last year.

Running game didn't look so good. Hopefully it will improve.

Look at the replays. Jennings looked pissed every time Rodgers threw him the ball, like he actually had to work tonight. Unstoppable offense, as everyone said. I just hope they don't become the Packers of the 80's.

Can't complain about lack of intensity on the defense.. we all know that it is only preseason and camp.. and if the player want they can loaf and give half hearted effort.. lol.

Okay.. had to throw that in.. 😉

that's what i thought...which led me to this thought:

our coverage D sucked anus-cookies last year against good QBs. i think what Capers was/is doing is taking away the D-line/blitz pressure and just getting the coverage D used to actually covering. i wouldn't be surprised to see the same thing happen the next 3 games and by game 4 see a little improvement at least. would be a heck of a way to surprise our opponents in the regular season too. ;)

other thoughts:

* Rodgers: simply amazing. so, SO glad he's our QB. Favre who?
* Burnett: i think by the end of this season, we might have our next "CM3" as far as surprise rookie performer. the kid looks like he's definitely got it in him, he just needs experience.
* Special Teams: punters both looked p. good, way better than i expected. returns and coverage was completely assed-out.
* Grant: fuck you.
* Jackson: fuck you, stop running into your own men like Grant.
* Lumpkin and Porter: better than Grant and Jackson? shit, i'll try anything at this point.

EDIT: oh, and yes Finley's going to be a beast...but will he alienate the rest of the receiving core in the process with his antics? we shall see.

I agree with Twinkiegorilla.

I think Brandon was instrumental in stopping Cleveland's blitz several times, so I'd give him a "qualified" FU, twinkie...jmo

I find it funny how little some of you know about football....

Ryan Grant fumbles one time in the first preseason game after not fumbling once last season running the ball and now you guys want a rookie to start over him. ::roll:

Lumkin didnt even average 4 years a carry and as much as I do like Porter he was running against backup players for the Cleveland Browns.

As for Shields this guy should have no business fielding punts, that will be Blackmon's job when he comes back. I have no problem with keeping Shields in to return kicks though.

I think Underwood had a very nice game and will start the season as the nickel corner until Harris comes back.

With that said, I'm concerned about the LBs. There wasn't a pass rush without Clay Matthews and Brandon Chiller didn't impress me rushing the passer from the OLB position. They also gave him a long look there. He was out there in the fourth quarter. The inside backers, once again, struggled in coverage. A.J. Hawk got smoked by Ben Watson.

"porky88" wrote:

What makes it worse is that Chiller looked so unimpressive against 3rd team players.

I thought he was going to be the stand out player in the 4th since his skill level should be so much greater than the guys he was facing. I was really disappointed.
