Brady is the most underrated player of the 00s. I don't understand the Manning love and the Brady hate. Brady had no legitimate WRs until 2007 and he put on the best performance ever by a QB that year. Manning has had solid WRs his entire career, including a Hall of Famer who may be considered the best possession receiver ever (I'm still bummed Sterling Sharpe got injured as he'd be in the running if he hadn't).

Yes, Rivers is elite. Ratings aside, he's one heck of a QB and I'll put him up there in the elite category any day of the week.

Brady is clutch. His first 3 SB performances have been spectacular.

Truth is, I'd take Rodgers over Manning or Brady because frankly immobile QBs piss me off. Both Manning or Brady wouldn't be where they are today without their OLs. Me and possibly Dfoster will probably be a minority here, but both have had spectacular OLs their entire careers.

That's one reason I always loved Favre. Although Favre runs about the same speed as my Grandma, Favre breaks tackles. If you didn't see the MN vs Niners game last year, you need to see it. Only Favre could have completed that pass.

And then there's Brees. Love watching Brees play. He's just so cool.

So to me it comes down to Rodgers vs Brees. Favre it too old because unlike MN, we're not in a win now mode. Rivers isn't mobile enough for me. And Romo is amazing in regular season and chokes in the playoffs.

I would have thrown Kurt Warner in there as despite his lack of mobility, his release is one of the best I've seen since Dan Marino. But alas, he's retired. And yes, too old like Favre to be considered.

RedSox - Drew Brees is much better than Peyton Manning, especially right now.

My grandma (r.i.p.) was the best ever grandma to play the game. She raised my brother and I- my mom was deceased and my dad overseas...

We got our dinners "made to order" and were not required to eat anything we did not like. Everyone in town (Madison) called her "Grandma". You could get away with just about anything, as long as you didn't fuck with her getting to mass on Sunday.

Statistically, she is the best. Not even close.

efore you laugh lets see what kind of stats Flacco puts up in his 4th and 5th years.

mi_keys, I think we are on the same page. I agree with what your saying. But the fact they are so close in those stats and the way you discuss their careers is why I am saying that right now, Rodgers is like Rivers/Romo (probably better). But he's still not in that elite class.

It goes:

Manning/Brady
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Brees
.
.
.
Rivers/Rodgers/Romo/Big Ben, etc.

I think we're on adjacent pages. If you're talking career wise I would agree with that list. Big Ben bothers me because he has two rings but I don't think he's as good as the other guys, he's just had better defenses.

If we're going into this coming season though and just for this one season I put Manning, Brees, and Brady all together with Rodgers tentatively there and Rivers fifth. That would be assuming Rodgers is taking the next step up with the improvements I perceive he's made as well as the improvements we should undoubtedly see in the offensive line.

I'd say an elite QB is one who does not cost you more games than they win for you. Along with throwing more TD's than INT's with say at least 2:1 ratio and throws for more than 3500 yards. Add in there one that can make any throw on the field with using arm strength or anticipation. Not many have both, some do.

That's a rough throw down while I'm at work trying to leave.

I guess I'm just wondering why Romo was mentioned by anyone in all of this. Rivers and even Flacco on that "second tier" I'll give you, but Romo?! He's just straight up HACK!

And all this "no rings" talk just makes me laugh. In that estimation, to many, Doug Williams is a better QB than Dan Marino I guess, because he has a ring.

I don't look as rings as much as I look if a QB's play improved or not in the playoffs which is a big deal. Everyone always defends Manning's lack of playoff success on bad D but the facts are his play declines in the postseason. On the other hand Rodgers may of lost his one playoff game but I'd say his play was improved in that game and to me that's what matters, does a player elevate his play in big games. Since it IS a team game this won't always ensure victory. In the end the QB debate can never be won cause there is no right answer. Who is the next guy to tell me an apple is better then an orange, it's just opinion. Even the undebatable greatest WR? I think anyone who's studied Don Hutson's career good give a Rice fan a good argument

Fact is, a good QB can get you to the playoffs. But unless you have a strong supporting group, you probably won't win the big one.
You a well rounded team to win it all.
If our D and ST's can come together with our o, we should be able to compete with anyone.

Musccy - If football stopped in 1994, Favre wouldn't be one of the greats. However, he went on to have the best consecutive 3 years by a QB ever. There's more a chance of Rodgers becoming the next Favre (although without the untimely INTs) than just another nobody.

Anyways, the statement I prefer is Dakota's. If you could have any starting 32 QBs, who would you take over Rodgers? I'd take no one. Yup, no one. Rodgers has youth, mobility, and unarguably one of the most accurate passers playing today. The only one I'd consider is Drew Brees but Brees is 30 and Rodgers is 26. There is a chance that Rodgers will get his 2nd SB ring by the time he's Brees' age.

Now for all the Peyton Manning man love that I hear every single freaking time he's playing, Manning had ZERO Playoff wins at Rodgers' age. Rodgers had a spectacular performance in the Playoffs. He just made the mistake of not playing DB as well as QB. He threw 4 TDs and ran in for another one. That should have been enough to win just about any game.

Manning on the other hand at Rodgers age got shut out, throwing 0 TDs and 2 INTs, throwing for under 150 yards with 17 yards as his longest completion.

I agree. I actually wrote in my post that there is nobody I'd rather have right now than rodgers because I think he can be the most dominant QB of the next decade. I'm just saying before we crown him king he's got to illustrate consistency and longevity, which has as much to do with avoiding injuries as anything, just ask Kerry Wood/Mark Prior who were destined for greatness as well.
