Frankly, the only leverage the Packers had in trading Giacomini, Evan D-S, or even Havner was that a team liked them so much that they did not want to take the risk of letting these guys hit the open market and end up on another team. In the end, that is not really much leverage.

This right here is why relatively few trades are made at the cutdown period. Most teams just wait for waivers.

As far as pure talent goes, Sintim and Demps would be upgrades at OLB and S.

But there are reasons why they were cut, so I definitely won't freak out if we don't pick them up.

No trades, but the Cardinals did just claim Obiozor.

And the Bucs just claimed Lumpkin.

Why not post everything JSOnline reported, like Graham Harrell is on our Practice Squad now?

I figured that the full list of PS players didn't really fit in in this thread.

Anyway, Havner got picked up by the Lions, as well.

Best place to follow the moves so far has been on Greg A. Bedard's twitter account.

Yeah, the Press Gazette sucks! Since Tom was stolen, they have no one who keeps tabs on current news now.

Nope.. not traded just picked up.. good move for the Lions

http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Source-Lions-claim-Spencer-Havner.html

The Detroit Lions have claimed tight end Spencer Havner off waivers from the Green Bay Packers, according to a league source with knowledge of the situation.

Havner was cut by the Packers on Saturday.

He cut seven passes for 112 yards and four touchdowns last season.

He played in all 16 games, starting once.

Havner played collegiately at UCLA.

I brought up the Demps idea as soon as he was cut, I don't know if he will drop to us in the waiver wire but I'd love to bring him in for some experience. Plus he's got a ton of experience with the Philly D, which can't hurt to much either 😉

I guess if someone in-division had to pick Havner up, I'm glad it was the Lions.
