Now see Brnt247.....you actually put some THOUGHT into what you typed! I wouldn't argue with your post! You admit that you THINK we would be better.......not trying to pass it off as FACT.
Heck, maybe we WOULD be better! I really don't KNOW either way, and NONE of us knows for sure.
I just get worked up when people try to put all the woes of this team just because of Favre.
Thats why i point out the 4-12 season just a few years back. They don't have a REAL answer for that, or the fact that we only won one SB the whole time the "almighty Favre" was here.
I LOVE Favre, but he was only a piece of the puzzle that took us to a SB 31 win. The D that year was HUGE in our wins.
We don't HAVE that strong D right now, and it's killing us.

Most fans, especially ones who don't actually know football like they think they do, put too much emphasis on the QB. QB's can take over games and QB's can lose games, but most of the time they are just, as you said, a piece of the puzzle. It is pretty unfair to put this year on Aaron Rodgers, just as it would be unfair to give all of the credit of last years team to Brett Favre.

QB gets too much credit when the team wins, and too much blame when the team loses.

Here are the stats on the top 10 QBs in the NFL. Look at ARs stats. Pretty impressive especially for a first year starter. Most teams would give up 2 first round draft picks to get a QB like Rodgers yet we are a below average as a team. This is a team effort. Aaron Rodgers can't do it alone and neither can our corners or receivers.. These 3 positions have been the heart of our team all year.

No one player is reason for winning or loosing. It's a team effort.

Those statistics are just fine. Now, somebody go get Pack93z and show him that. I want to see what he says about that friggin' McNabb coming to Minnesota, Chicago or Detroit. (Not really, but I DID say I wanted him to stay the hell away from the NFC north, and if you look at some of those stats, it's not hard to figure out why I said it.)

All I know is that in the 10 seasons after the Packers last made it to the Superbowl, their regular-season record was 97-63-0 (.606), for an average of 9.7 wins against 6.3 losses per year. In that span, the Packers have made it to the NFC Championship game twice, losing both times.

By comparison, the Colts went 105-55-0 (.656) over the same span (despite Peyton Manning's disastrous 3-13 rookie campaign), an average of 10.5 wins against 5.5 losses per year. In that span, the Colts have made the AFC Championship twice and won the Superbowl once.

For further comparison, the Patriots are 108-52-0 (.675) in that span -- and an incredible 86-26-0 (.767) with Tom Brady at the helm -- having appeared in the Superbowl 4 times, winning 3 of them!

The Packers' record the past ten years may have been a model of consistency, but it was hardly scintillating.

I think you did a damn fine job! Part of the problem trying to line up columns on the forum is the software uses a variable-width font. A little trick I use is to type everything in a word processor using a fixed-width font like Courier New. That way if it's lined up properly in the word processor, it will line up properly inside the forum code tags too.

We never have had the over offensive or defensive talent that the Pats or Colts have. The Colts for a while just had an offensive team, but they had two amazing receivers and a very good half back and a dominant offensive line. Having one side of the ball be the very best in football will get you to the playoffs every year. The Pats for a while had one of the best defenses in football and then last year that offense was just insane. I only think the teams in the teams in the early 2000's were even close to as talented as the Colts and Pats have been, and those 2002 and 2003 teams were poorly coached in my opinion.

The point I am trying to make is that Brett Favre was never the entire team as some try to make him out to be, and Peyton Manning and Tom Brady have never been their entire teams either. A successful team usually has a good quarterback and surrounds them with talent. They don't just rely on the QB's arm to win them every game.

Damn....nonstop, and brnt........and many others in this thread......you guys put alot of thought into your posts. What you guys have written would shame any of the "Oh yeah? If FAVRE was here, you'd see!!!" posts that have become way too familiar here.
Pointing out how we averaged 9 wins a season, one SB win in 16 years, the comparisons to what the Patriots have done.........pointing out how the defenses were huge.......I wish that some of the people that came here would open up their minds and actually THINK about these facts, instead of just ignoring them.
But that would destroy their arguments......so i doubt that will ever happen.
