Bulaga was an excellent pick, and every team in the NFL would be happy if their 1st round picks end up as productive at Bulaga has been. The only reason he is not playing LT is because the team needed him at RT when Tauscher went down. If it had been Clifton instead you can bet Bulaga would have been playing LT instead.

You see no dichotomy between player and picked? They're very different in my mind. Calls to mind the old AJ Hawk debates. Okay player but not for where he was picked. In Bulaga's case he doesn't play where he was drafted because he's not good enough. If he was better than Bakhtiari, he'd be playing LT, but he's not. He's not good enough but I do understand that has never stopped us from trotting players not good enough. Bulaga could play LT for us now but he'd play it somewhere between Barclay and Spriggs.

continue to be wrong. Bulaga is playing RT not because he is not good enough to play RT. It is because that is where he was needed. Once he because established it made more sense to keep him where he was instead of having to go backwards to go forwards. Switching from side to side isn't a simple plug and play action.

Not wrong and if you continue believing that then I think you'd have to say our staff is moronic to not be playing the best LT on the roster to protect 12. He plays RT because he's not good enough to play LT...no other reason, period.

We have a Pro Bowl LT, who the F cares whether he is playing RT?

I didn't care when Datone was playing LB last year but realized what a bust he was and a mistake to be taken in Round 1 to play DE/DT. At least Bulaga was good at his new position where Datone wasn't and now finds himself out of a job. Had Datone been as good at LB as Bulaga was at RT, it would've mitigated the pain of his failure as a DL for us, but he still would've been a failure for being drafted in round 1 to play DL for us. Same applies to Bulaga regardless of how he worked out at RT. I don't know if people are getting this...good player...yes! Wasted first pick as a LT. Fortunate it worked out.

Again clearly Bulaga was a good pick... and there is no doubt about it. I get that some people want to hit a grand slam at every single at bat, but that's insanely ridiculous... Bulaga at minimum was a triple, and maybe even a solo homer as the best pass blocking RT on a very pass happy team and he normally is among the top overall RTs.

For pass happy teams (Packers are) RT is much more valuable positions than given credit and a number of teams have drafted OGs in the 1st round, so I'm not going to fault Bulaga for being a RT because the guy plays at a high level protecting the QB that loves to hold it the longest and that might be harder than a LT with a QB that gets rid of it quickly.

If it wasn't for Bakhtiari seizing the left tackle position its very likely Bulaga would have eventually been moved there himself. It was unfortunate for Bulaga since LTs are paid more but worked out great for the Packers, few qbs are better protected on the edges than Rodgers.

That isn't the case, the position is different. Bahktiari is LT because Bulaga got hurt in 2013. We don't know if Bahktiari could switch and play RT at the same level. We know Bulaga can.

Bahktiari LT, Bulaga RT is a better combination than Bulaga LT and any other option we have at RT, not because of bulaga but because nobody else can play RT as well.

You know Bakhtiari can't play RT how? How did the staff know Bulaga could play RT before he did? What we can surmise is Bulaga at LT and Bakh at RT is not preferable due to Bulaga's ineptness at LT not anything to do with how Bakhtiari would do at RT.

Give me one example in the history of the NFL where the less talented guy played a position over another guy where it wasn't about money or experience. Bulaga made way more than Bakh until his extension and he had more experience. The Packers would be FOOLS to play Bakh there if Bulaga was better. You don't go...oh, well this combo is better than this guy who can protect the blindside better so let's not put the best guy protecting our franchise's blindside out there.

If Aaron Rodgers had turned out to be an above average TE instead of a HOF QB, he would've been a wasted 1st round pick as he was selected in Round 1 because of his QB ability. Bulaga was selected in Round 1 because he was to be our starting LT. He FAILED. He ain't better than Bakh...isn't even close. Now, all of a sudden Bulaga is just playing RT because it's in the best interests of the team? LOL. Yes, but..No. He plays there because he's not even close to being our best LT. It is in the best interest of this team that Bulaga is not our LT because he's not very good at it.
