The more and more I process and reprocess the events of the last several days, I'm starting to wonder if what is happening on the inside is one gigantic power struggle.

Reading the tea leaves, it appears Mike McCarthy feels the org has not done enough to win SBs. Mark Murphy craves sameness and feels Russ Ball is the man best able to keep the status quo. The last thing Mike McCarthy wants is more of the same as he'd grown frustrated with Ted and his shoot low approach, and saw this change as an opportunity for the org to get better not stay the same.
Mike McCarthy kept talking about fit and went off about this org not doing enough to win SuperBowls. Murphy appears to be about anything but SuperBowls as his underwhelming presser showed a man who seemed clueless, weak, and dishonest.

Is it possible Mike McCarthy is our only hope at becoming an organization about winning SuperBowls? The power struggle appears to be real.

One thing I do believe is the org is more than aware of what the fans think. Murphy knew Ted was a "lightning rod" as he referenced in his presser. 1265 has to know that the talk of Russ Ball has greatly upset many in the fanbase. Will it acquiesce to McCarthy's wishes and really offer compensation to bring John Schneider home. He makes the most sense given the situation where everyone can save face. Mike McCarthy will stay...Murphy gets to look like a hero for bringing the local boy home and the org can get on, finally, to be about the business of winning SuperBowls.

Never thought in a million years I'd be cheering on Mike McCarthy but I truly hope his bravado and his demeanor expressed at his presser carries weight and changes minds within the organization to try and be winners not financially stable.

Maintaining consistent ethical and objective reporting doesn't necessarily pay the bills or increase revenue. Publicity generally does though.

I think when the team is that interwoven into the fabric of the community it is very different and Packers media falls in line. I have never ever seen what I've seen with Packers media in any other pro sport. On twitter you regularly have competitors giving shouts out to "great stories" being done by their competitors. It's one big close knit group that is seemingly all about the promotion of the Packers where in other cities it's about the truth with a fair share of "negativity" thrown in. Bob fits in all the other media markets but is a bad fit for Green Bay but is sorely needed here. More like him are needed. The environment is the tamest of the tame. Ted Thompson doesn't last as long in New York, or Philly, or Dallas as he did in Green Bay. Sadly, the only reason he's gone has nothing to do with why he wouldn't have lasted in other places.

I watched Murphy's presser, twice over. I just cringed. Literally. I was aghast this is the guy who the fate of the franchise rests in. I think I'd feel more comfortable with Seneca Wallace needing make a big play for us on the field than Murphy making one off it.

The Packers board must be one goofy group of people. Oh, I know they're all supposedly "successful business people" but I'd like to meet each and every one of them. That group on the whole has to be about as underwhelming as Mark Murphy to be okay with Mark Murphy being CEO. Admittedly, I've never really spent much time looking into the structure. Perhaps, I will do so as I'm not up to speed there. I'm terrified of what I might find. Instead of one big fat cat owner, we might have a bunch of "little man syndromes" running around not much different collectively but worse than one big fat cat billionaire.

It’s clear Mark Murphy is an incompetent joke. No wonder he hired an outside firm to do his job for him.

I would bet that nothing that's happened this offseason is anywhere near as gigantic or dramatic as you have been assuming it is but there is some truth to most of the rumors that have come out.

Pathetic??? I really don't think so...Food for thought...I am not on the inside, but consider what might have been the case over the last few years/weeks/days...to me, the following reconstruction of events makes sense....perhaps:
1. Mike McCarthy wanted to change the DC for years, but Ted Thompson and Murphy wanted an experienced, known quantity in that spot. Someone with HC experience.
2. Mike McCarthy was not allowed to pay up and keep creative, talented coaches. Instead we had Tom Clemens, Edgar Bennett, AVP, et al....guys no one else wants to hire. This was likely very frustrating to MM, but he held his tongue, because with 12, he still had shot.
3. Further, he is tired of the draft and develop as ARod and he both have limited time
4. Mike McCarthy reads McGinn and other other people "in-the-know" and the "word" came out that Ball is the guy. I BELIEVE HE WAS.
5. Mike McCarthy goes apeshit and says that he is done if that happens...there lots of HC vacancies and he can have his pick.
6. Mike McCarthy enlists ARod, another great soldier, who has kept his mouth shut about the malaise and group think...but both have had enough....and they say so.
7. With his star QB and head coach both voicing displeasure, MMurph rethinks the decision.
8. But now, full of piss and vinegar, with nothing to lose, instead of being satisfied with a with a decent GM, as he might have been, Mike McCarthy wants to guarantee that any new GM will not be able to make stupid roster decisions without his ability to directly appeal to Murphy.
9. The deal with G is probably.
- Mike McCarthy is the coach until he is not.
- As a new GM, you would not fire a Super Bowl winning coach without checking with the boss anyway....so whats the big deal.
- The next head coach will report to G anyway
10. All of this makes me think Mike McCarthy wants to go outside for a proven DC...someone he does not have to babysit.
11. Fangio is the perfect fit, because if the offense does not get more creative and effective in tight man coverage, Mike McCarthy will be gone. Assuming Fangio does a good job with the D, he is next in line.

Martha Careful (23h) : 1. this is true of all our linemen. 2. His run block is fine. 3. If all OL played like he has, we would win SB.
beast (10-May) : Meyers pass blocking is really good, his run blocking is really not.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : Packers have claimed DE Spencer Waege off of waivers from the 49ers and waived DT Rodney Mathews.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : And the OL protections seem to be good.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : I really don't know lol. I don't see him getting blown up.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : -3 buwahhhahaaha
Mucky Tundra (9-May) : 4th
Zero2Cool (9-May) : because he's 1st
Mucky Tundra (9-May) : Myers isn't even the 3rd best C on the roster atm
Martha Careful (9-May) : I am not sure I understand the Myers hate. He was consistently our third best lineman. RG and LT were worse.
beast (9-May) : Just saying I don't think moving Myers would help Myers.
beast (9-May) : Center is usually considered the easiest position physically if you can handle the snap stuff.
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : Bust it is then
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Context. Sounds like Myers won't be cross-trained. C or bust.
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : @BookOfEli_NFL Packers pass game coordinator, Jason Vrable said that Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks shared a placed in Florida while train
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : For now...
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers go about evaluating their "best five," OL coach Luke Butkus makes on thing clear: "Josh Myers is our center."
beast (8-May) : Though I'm a bit surprised letting go of CBs, I thought we needed more not less
beast (8-May) : It was confusing with two DB Anthony Johnson anyways
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers actually had Ray Lewis on the phone.
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers wanted to draft Ray Lewis. Ravens stole him.
Martha Careful (6-May) : Happy 93rd Birthday to the Greatest Baseball Player of All-Time...Willie Mays
Zero2Cool (6-May) : Walter Stanely's son
buckeyepackfan (6-May) : and released CB Anthony Johnson and DL Deandre Johnson and waived/injured WR Thyrick Pitts (thigh-rick).
buckeyepackfan (6-May) : The Green Bay Packers have signed WR Julian Hicks, OL Lecitus Smith (luh-SEET-us) and WR Dimitri Stanley
Zero2Cool (6-May) : Petty, but it's annoying me how the NFL is making the schedule release an event.
Mucky Tundra (4-May) : @mattschneidman Matt LaFleur on how he tore his pec: “Got in a fight with the bench press. I lost.”
Zero2Cool (3-May) : Jordan Love CAN sign an extension as of today. Might tak weeks/months though
TheKanataThrilla (3-May) : Packers decline 5th year option for Stokes
Mucky Tundra (3-May) : @ProFootballTalk Jaylen Warren: Steelers' special teams coach has discussed Justin Fields returning kicks.
Zero2Cool (2-May) : Season officially ending tonight for Bucks ... sad face
Zero2Cool (2-May) : Giannis Antetokounmpo is listed as out for tonight's game.
dfosterf (2-May) : Surprisingly low initially is my guess cap wise, but gonna pay the piper after that
dfosterf (2-May) : The number on Love is going to be brutal.
Zero2Cool (2-May) : May 3rd. Extension day for Jordan Love. (soonest)
Zero2Cool (1-May) : USFL MVP QB Alex McGough moved to WR. So that's why no WR drafted!
earthquake (1-May) : Packers draft starters at safety ever few years. Collins, Clinton-Dix, Savage
beast (1-May) : Why can't the rookies be a day 1 starter? Especially when we grabbed 3 of them at the position
dfosterf (1-May) : Not going to be shocked if Gilmore goes to the Lions.
dfosterf (1-May) : I hear you dhazer, but my guess would be Gilmore Colts and Howard Vikings from what little has been reported.
Mucky Tundra (30-Apr) : S learn from McKinney who learns from Hafley who learns from the fans. Guaranteed Super Bowl
Zero2Cool (30-Apr) : could*
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : Safeties should learn from Xavier.
dhazer (29-Apr) : And what about grabbing a Gilmore or Howard at CB ? Those are all Free Agents left
dhazer (29-Apr) : out of curiosity do they try and sign Simmons or Hyde to let these young safeties learn from, they can't be day 1 starters.
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : I miss having Sam Shields.
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : Not that he's making excuses, just pointing it out
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : That's for dang sure. Make our erratic kicker have no excuse!
packerfanoutwest (28-Apr) : having a great long snapper is gold
Zero2Cool (28-Apr) : LaFleur looking like he had some weight. Coachin will do that lol
