WRs are open. At the same time, the QB knows the play that is being called and that should steer him as to where to look and when to do it; something the fans don't have any knowledge of. The WRs play a big role here too of course. It does not help the QB if the WR is open but not at all where they are expected to be. We all have heard of good route running WRs that play a key role in this game of chess.

It is hard for me to tell on any given play who is to blame but the aggregate statistics show Rodgers holds on to the ball too long and he needs to change part of his execution for the offense to have a chance against the top teams.

I see that Aaron Rodgers has been selected to the Pro Bowl.
All I can say, is that, he must have been selected based on past performance.

However, I think a good portion of us "haters" feel he's playing between top 10-15, which if you rationally think about it -- is still pretty damn good. Packers fans are smart enough to know with a guy like Aaron Rodgers we should be stepping on the throats of some of these teams -- and we're not -- therefore we are frustrated.

He’s still really good, but we know what he has been capable of in the past. If he got back to that level, I really feel we COULD have another Super Bowl win.
At 11-3, which is really good, if they don’t go all the way, it’s a wasted season at close to Rodgers end.
Who knows if they will ever get this close again.

I'm just not seeing All Pro or Pro Bowl play from him this year.
Hopefully he's got a few better years left in him but that may depend on how much offensive help they are able to add in the off season.

Rodgers has not been elite much (couple games yes) and what I see is a lack of confidence and I'm not speaking so much of it being in his receivers but in himself. Of course the element of confidence in who he throws too (or not) is a part of it. He doesn't throw into tight windows much anymore and rarely puts up a 50/50 ball.

As far as the receivers go it doesn't help that the group as a whole is average at best and could be argued below average. They don't have a #2 nor do they have a reliable TE threat. So for me there is not any mystery in what causes the great inconsistencies from this offense. They will go back to back TD drives then not score for two or three quarters. Contributing to this is a number of things that generally add up to getting behind the chains and predictable. Poor execution, dumb penalties, etc., In other words when we have to pass our way out of poor down and distance it most often doesn't happen. This is where having average receivers come into play. The fire power in the passing game to overcome or lift the team is just not there. When this team runs the ball well and stays away from penalties they play well. When these things aren't happening we get the back to back to back 3 & outs. No one is making a play.

As they say it's players not plays so wouldn't it be true that inconsistent play is the result of inconsistent players? I think we can all agree ARod has been inconsistent, however, he also has the ability to be much better. I can't say that with much confidence about the guys on the receiving end, however, if Rodgers elevates his play this will obviously raise the level of play by his receivers. My early Christmas wish is for Matt LaFleur to play Kumerow and Lazard more. They have shown a greater ability to make a big play and, maybe more importantly, a play when they really need it. When we get up against these good teams like the Vikes one or two of those can be the difference in a W or an L.
