So, ah, what's the name of your source? Because that's some powerful stuff you've been smoking/drinking/snorting/injecting

I had this idea of not playing to win this year from TT's moves specially for his non-moves.

When I read from Mike McCarthy that we are using a reduced playbook this year it made sense because we can't go very far with the run-run-pass approach and the 4 or 5 magnificent plays we have :)

"longtimefan" wrote:

where did he say that with AR?
unless this is new stuff

.he said it was all media hype when asked about changing the play book to suit Aaron Rodgers during the suumer

Mike McCarthy said "We haven't really operated on a very high volume all year, so that's something coming out of the offseason" in his press conference on MOnday. The actual quote is at the bottom of the transcript

"bigfog" wrote:

does that mean play book is cut in half? I am guessing since he was answering a question about Flynn he was gearing the answer to only Flynn...

I know he said in a p/c the play book has not changed and it is/was the same as what Brett had..and he was tired of the MEDIA bringing it up, and I think his words were "that did not come form me or any of my cvoaches, that came from the media" ** about the play book was adjusted to suit Aaron Rodgers ***

I can not find it, but trust me when I do i will post what he said

I think Trippster posted the article that you're talking about LT where Mike McCarthy said that. I was just posting the article that I believed the poster was referring to where he thought Mike McCarthy said the playbook was pared down. Not trying to start anything.

I just know for a fact Mike McCarthy said the playbook was not scaled back, cut in half, adjusted to suit AR..I heard it in a p/c saw it in the transcript and posted it somewhere..

Now to see this quote baffles me..I am not sure what he is really saying..

I still think he was referring to Flynn

If it helps you clear the confusion the plays we have deployed in our first 3 games clearly show we are operating on a low volume playbook.

How do you come to this conclusion? I'm not saying the playbook hasn't been adjusted, but I'd say that has more to do with missing WRs than it does Aaron. I recall the same as LT, that McCarthy said point blank he hadn't pared anything down for Aaron.

MM Monday presser after the loss to Tampa

(How much smaller does the playbook get with Flynn?)
We haven't really operated on a very high volume all year, so that's something coming out of the offseason. I think it's important as a coaching staff to challenge yourself. I've dealt with very high-volume offensive game plans in the past. Over the long haul, I think it creates more opportunity for mental errors. I don't think we have a volume issue as far as the size of our playbook for any of the quarterbacks to run. The percentage of that, the week will probably answer that question better.

thanks but that was posted numerous times now..

And as I have said....

WTF does it mean?

Is he refering to Flynn?

Or is he out and out lying to us? Cuz he did say the play book isnt any different then what Brett ran and he hasnt changed it at all to suit Aaron Rodgers
is it just how many plays they put in for THAT PARTICULAR week?? cuz I think every coach does that...

no need to get snippy. I didn't read the thread. I saw your question. I answered your question, or at least I thought I did. Personally, I feel like the answer is right there, and you just don't like it. The playcalling has been conservative, for whatever reason. Example: we haven't run the Big 5. not because Aaron can't handle it, but because we haven't had 5 healthy receivers. So, we haven't been able to open up the playbook.

Sorry, Amigo, but just because someone has a title, doesn't mean they're the expert. Case in point, Matt Millen. Case in point, Al Davis.

I think there are at least half a dozen people here who could have drafted and traded better than those two in the past few years.

"zombieslayer" wrote:

Funny you should mention Matt Millen and then the 2nd statement, because that's exactly Millen's situation - someone who's not a proper GM, doesn't have a management background thinking he can outdraft and out manage the rest of the GMs in the NFL.

Maybe you'll get lucky here and there, but you'll never convince me, or [strike]any[/strike] the majority of team owners from hiring someone who has no experience or background to GM a team, because they see clearly in hindsight.

You are free to criticise, but don't pretend that people on the street could do a better job. You are doing a disservice for all the behind-the-scenes hard work that Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy go through and all the long hours, probably every day to try and keep the Packers as an elite team without paying through the nose.

Martha Careful (10-May) : 1. this is true of all our linemen. 2. His run block is fine. 3. If all OL played like he has, we would win SB.
beast (10-May) : Meyers pass blocking is really good, his run blocking is really not.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : Packers have claimed DE Spencer Waege off of waivers from the 49ers and waived DT Rodney Mathews.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : And the OL protections seem to be good.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : I really don't know lol. I don't see him getting blown up.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : -3 buwahhhahaaha
Mucky Tundra (9-May) : 4th
Zero2Cool (9-May) : because he's 1st
Mucky Tundra (9-May) : Myers isn't even the 3rd best C on the roster atm
Martha Careful (9-May) : I am not sure I understand the Myers hate. He was consistently our third best lineman. RG and LT were worse.
beast (9-May) : Just saying I don't think moving Myers would help Myers.
beast (9-May) : Center is usually considered the easiest position physically if you can handle the snap stuff.
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : Bust it is then
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Context. Sounds like Myers won't be cross-trained. C or bust.
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : @BookOfEli_NFL Packers pass game coordinator, Jason Vrable said that Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks shared a placed in Florida while train
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : For now...
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers go about evaluating their "best five," OL coach Luke Butkus makes on thing clear: "Josh Myers is our center."
beast (8-May) : Though I'm a bit surprised letting go of CBs, I thought we needed more not less
beast (8-May) : It was confusing with two DB Anthony Johnson anyways
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers actually had Ray Lewis on the phone.
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers wanted to draft Ray Lewis. Ravens stole him.
Martha Careful (6-May) : Happy 93rd Birthday to the Greatest Baseball Player of All-Time...Willie Mays

buckeyepackfan (6-May) : The Green Bay Packers have signed WR Julian Hicks, OL Lecitus Smith (luh-SEET-us) and WR Dimitri Stanley
Zero2Cool (6-May) : Petty, but it's annoying me how the NFL is making the schedule release an event.
Mucky Tundra (4-May) : @mattschneidman Matt LaFleur on how he tore his pec: “Got in a fight with the bench press. I lost.”
Zero2Cool (3-May) : Jordan Love CAN sign an extension as of today. Might tak weeks/months though
TheKanataThrilla (3-May) : Packers decline 5th year option for Stokes
Mucky Tundra (3-May) : @ProFootballTalk Jaylen Warren: Steelers' special teams coach has discussed Justin Fields returning kicks.
Zero2Cool (2-May) : Season officially ending tonight for Bucks ... sad face
Zero2Cool (2-May) : Giannis Antetokounmpo is listed as out for tonight's game.
dfosterf (2-May) : Surprisingly low initially is my guess cap wise, but gonna pay the piper after that
dfosterf (2-May) : The number on Love is going to be brutal.
Zero2Cool (2-May) : May 3rd. Extension day for Jordan Love. (soonest)
Zero2Cool (1-May) : USFL MVP QB Alex McGough moved to WR. So that's why no WR drafted!
earthquake (1-May) : Packers draft starters at safety ever few years. Collins, Clinton-Dix, Savage
beast (1-May) : Why can't the rookies be a day 1 starter? Especially when we grabbed 3 of them at the position
dfosterf (1-May) : Not going to be shocked if Gilmore goes to the Lions.
dfosterf (1-May) : I hear you dhazer, but my guess would be Gilmore Colts and Howard Vikings from what little has been reported.
Mucky Tundra (30-Apr) : S learn from McKinney who learns from Hafley who learns from the fans. Guaranteed Super Bowl
Zero2Cool (30-Apr) : could*
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : Safeties should learn from Xavier.
dhazer (29-Apr) : And what about grabbing a Gilmore or Howard at CB ? Those are all Free Agents left
dhazer (29-Apr) : out of curiosity do they try and sign Simmons or Hyde to let these young safeties learn from, they can't be day 1 starters.
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : I miss having Sam Shields.
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : Not that he's making excuses, just pointing it out
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : That's for dang sure. Make our erratic kicker have no excuse!
packerfanoutwest (28-Apr) : having a great long snapper is gold
Zero2Cool (28-Apr) : LaFleur looking like he had some weight. Coachin will do that lol
