There can be no lock out because there is no CBA.

There is no CBA because the Union willfully decertified.

All players must be dealt with individually.

There can be no collusion amongst teams so it is wide open and wild on the labor front.

Long snappers and other players are only required to make state minimum wage. No NFL minimum salary. Rookies can be signed for as little as they can get.

No cap; no floor.

No more drafts.

Ted can only get younger and cheaper as he snags players out of college programs.

ALL UNION PROTECTIONS AND PENSIONS ARE GONE.

There is no more union so the NFL teams can no longer cooperate on issues as that would be an anti-trust law violation.

Nothing will actually happen just yet, from what I understand. It will be appealed, possibly in multiple courts, before any real action begins.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/04/25/report-judge-nelson-lifts-lockout/#comments

As expected, a ruling on the players motion to lift the lockout came Monday.

As expected, the ruling favors the players.

Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that Judge Nelson has issued a ruling in favor of the players. The NFL reportedly will seek an immediate stay of the implementation of the decision.

If the stay is granted, the lockout would not be lifted until, at the earliest, after the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit issues a ruling in the case. The players surely would request expedited consideration of the appeal.

If Judge Nelson refuses to grant the stay, the NFL surely would seek a stay from the appeals court.

If neither court gives the league the stay, the doors will be forced open, soon.

In the short term, its good news for the fans. If the ruling stands, the season will occur as scheduled. And maybe folks will even give a crap about the draft.

Meanwhile, if the ruling stands the NFL will at some point have to come up with rules for 2011 regarding free agency and the salary cap, if any. Those rules likely would then be challenged by the players as antitrust violations.

All that said, there could be important exceptions and details and nuances in Judge Nelsons written ruling. Were in the process of getting our hands on it. Well then break it all down in order to best understand why the decision was reached, whether it will be susceptible to appeal, and what it all means to you (and us), the fans of football.

Edit, reading a bit more, I may be wrong. Is it beginning now? wtf wtf?

This ruling by itself means nothing. it's going to be appealed.

They were just saying it is being appealed but a ruling could be as soon as tomorrow and free agency and trading could start the day of the draft 🙂 Lets trade this years first back to the Panthers for their 1st next year :)

I say trade it to anyone that needs a qb and get their 1st next year because they will still suck and we could end up with the #1 and #32 🙂
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

It was my understanding that they would fall back on last year's rules regarding the draft, FA, etc...

I have two knee-jerk reactions, neither one with any basis in evidence, ones that together make me look more bow-legged than a life-long cowboy.

1. Expecting any Obama appointee to issue anything other than a pro-union decision is naive.

2. It's nice to see the really rich bastards (owners of pro sport teams) sweating. (See the other thread on the Dodger owners that I started.)
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

But of course we couldn't do ANYTHING that might stifle the rich in any capacity as they are the ones that are kind enough to employ and pay us! We must ensure they have every bit of their wealth so that a fraction can find it's way down to us plebeians!

Players are a lot easier to find and replace than owners. If the owners are not making money, they will lose interest in owning a team.

F-it, bring back Feudalism; I'm itching to serve these masters of industry - with my hear, liver, and kidneys if they need them.

I've always been on the players side in this argument. And I am not one of those Asstards that's naive enough to compare my salary to that of a gifted professional athlete. I hope they crucify those 31 affluent in courts. We Packer owners will just go along.

It doesn't even bother me that retards like Tommy Lee and Vince Neil are millionaires and get all the underserved fantasy tail.

Mucky Tundra (45m) : 4th
Zero2Cool (59m) : because he's 1st
Mucky Tundra (2h) : Myers isn't even the 3rd best C on the roster atm
Martha Careful (3h) : I am not sure I understand the Myers hate. He was consistently our third best lineman. RG and LT were worse.
beast (7h) : Just saying I don't think moving Myers would help Myers.
beast (7h) : Center is usually considered the easiest position physically if you can handle the snap stuff.
Mucky Tundra (23h) : Bust it is then
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Context. Sounds like Myers won't be cross-trained. C or bust.
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : @BookOfEli_NFL Packers pass game coordinator, Jason Vrable said that Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks shared a placed in Florida while train
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : For now...
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers go about evaluating their "best five," OL coach Luke Butkus makes on thing clear: "Josh Myers is our center."
beast (8-May) : Though I'm a bit surprised letting go of CBs, I thought we needed more not less
beast (8-May) : It was confusing with two DB Anthony Johnson anyways
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers actually had Ray Lewis on the phone.
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers wanted to draft Ray Lewis. Ravens stole him.
Martha Careful (6-May) : Happy 93rd Birthday to the Greatest Baseball Player of All-Time...Willie Mays
Zero2Cool (6-May) : Walter Stanely's son
buckeyepackfan (6-May) : and released CB Anthony Johnson and DL Deandre Johnson and waived/injured WR Thyrick Pitts (thigh-rick).
buckeyepackfan (6-May) : The Green Bay Packers have signed WR Julian Hicks, OL Lecitus Smith (luh-SEET-us) and WR Dimitri Stanley
Zero2Cool (6-May) : Petty, but it's annoying me how the NFL is making the schedule release an event.
Mucky Tundra (4-May) : @mattschneidman Matt LaFleur on how he tore his pec: “Got in a fight with the bench press. I lost.”
Zero2Cool (3-May) : Jordan Love CAN sign an extension as of today. Might tak weeks/months though
TheKanataThrilla (3-May) : Packers decline 5th year option for Stokes
Mucky Tundra (3-May) : @ProFootballTalk Jaylen Warren: Steelers' special teams coach has discussed Justin Fields returning kicks.
Zero2Cool (2-May) : Season officially ending tonight for Bucks ... sad face
Zero2Cool (2-May) : Giannis Antetokounmpo is listed as out for tonight's game.
dfosterf (2-May) : Surprisingly low initially is my guess cap wise, but gonna pay the piper after that
dfosterf (2-May) : The number on Love is going to be brutal.
Zero2Cool (2-May) : May 3rd. Extension day for Jordan Love. (soonest)
Zero2Cool (1-May) : USFL MVP QB Alex McGough moved to WR. So that's why no WR drafted!
earthquake (1-May) : Packers draft starters at safety ever few years. Collins, Clinton-Dix, Savage
beast (1-May) : Why can't the rookies be a day 1 starter? Especially when we grabbed 3 of them at the position
dfosterf (1-May) : Not going to be shocked if Gilmore goes to the Lions.
dfosterf (1-May) : I hear you dhazer, but my guess would be Gilmore Colts and Howard Vikings from what little has been reported.
Mucky Tundra (30-Apr) : S learn from McKinney who learns from Hafley who learns from the fans. Guaranteed Super Bowl
Zero2Cool (30-Apr) : could*
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : Safeties should learn from Xavier.
dhazer (29-Apr) : And what about grabbing a Gilmore or Howard at CB ? Those are all Free Agents left
dhazer (29-Apr) : out of curiosity do they try and sign Simmons or Hyde to let these young safeties learn from, they can't be day 1 starters.
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : I miss having Sam Shields.
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : Not that he's making excuses, just pointing it out
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : That's for dang sure. Make our erratic kicker have no excuse!
packerfanoutwest (28-Apr) : having a great long snapper is gold
Zero2Cool (28-Apr) : LaFleur looking like he had some weight. Coachin will do that lol
Zero2Cool (28-Apr) : Thanks Mucky and whomever created topcos for each pick!
Zero2Cool (28-Apr) : Insane about Kingsley
dfosterf (28-Apr) : Putring it here so Mucky sees it. He was our guy!
