Fuck a bunch of Wells.

He 's way over-rated by everyone, imo. We can't run up the friggin' gut hardly at all, haven't been able to, and HE is this great run blocker? ( I know, I know, don't get me going about our guards, lol)

I'll give him the "football smarts", "tenacity" etc. -and at his position, that is of course very important.

I still honestly want the Pack to take their chances at this position. He's friggin' light in the trou- I like that in women-folk, not so much in NFL offensive linemen, especially Green Bay Packers offensive linemen, including the GD center.

Wells claim to fame was playing with good leverage and pancaking Sean Rogers in the opening game on the goal line. Sean Rogers has no heart anymore.

James Starks 133 attempts 578yds 4.3avg
Ryan Grant 134 attempts 559yds 4.2avg

IDK but IMHO 4.25 yds a rush is pretty good. It's not that the Packers can't run the ball, it's the fact that they just DON'T RUN IT AS MUCH AS OTHER TEAMS.
Compared to these guys you put Starks and Grant together and it's not as bad as some might think.

Micheal Turner 301attempts 1,340yds 4.5avg
Arion Foster 278attempts 1,224yds 4.4avg.
Steven Jackson 260attempts 1,145yds 4.4avg.
Frank Gore 282attempts 1,211yds 4.3avg
Marshawn Lynch 285attempts 1,204yds 4.2avg

I still say it is way to early to worry about any story that comes out.

This is how the game is played, of course Well's and his agent are going to say he deserves a top 5 C salary, I think he does, but myy opinion means squat.

Ted Thompsaon will make the decision.

Wells hasn't been anything but a class act, I am betting Ted will make him a fair offer, and they will go from there.

It just brings to mind the old saying, "Don't blow smoke up one's ass and try and call it sunshine."

I've read that the Texans aren't that interested in retaining Myers, despite his amazing season. They think he's a product of the system and isn't worth the dollars he could get elsewhere. He might be avaivable.

They do have cap problems, so they might have difficulties in retaining him. Regardless, I'd definitely pursue Myers if he were available. I think I'd rather have him for five million on annual salary than Wells for seven million on a five-year deal. They're similar players. In fact, Myers is somewhat the AFC's version of Wells when you think about it. He may even be an upgrade in some aspects.

Stats, Stats, Stats; it's all horse shit. Let's call it 4 yards a carry and the only reason it is that good is because most of the defenses we played were on their heels. Bottom line, when we NEED to run the ball, we can't and I call that pathetic.

Let's put it this way: It's the waning moments of the game, the score is close, and the Packers need their running attack to close things out. How many of you would actually feel confident in their ability to do that -- or would you cringe instead as they started to hand the ball off? I can only think of one, maybe two games this year in which the running game was able to take over in the 4th quarter, allowing the Packers to burn off the clock and sit on a lead.

In the Mike McCarthy era, the Packers simply have not been good in close-game situations. How many times have we seen the game coming down to the wire with the Packers still forced to throw because they couldn't rely on their running game to finish the job? That's why this team is built to front run: it's the only way it can consistently win.

Sticking with the OP it's cool and all to want someone better than Wells on the team but the simple fact is that there isn't anybody there currently. In my opinion it isn't really good business to try and replace somebody before you have their replacement.

My point is that when Wells moves on, we replace him with a road grader and not a leverage pass protector. The other side of this whole thing is that Clifton and his cap number need to be gone ASAP. He only played a handful of games last year and got yanked out of the Giants playoff game for sucking.

Martha Careful (9-May) : I am not sure I understand the Myers hate. He was consistently our third best lineman. RG and LT were worse.
beast (9-May) : Just saying I don't think moving Myers would help Myers.
beast (9-May) : Center is usually considered the easiest position physically if you can handle the snap stuff.
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : Bust it is then
