I am a Minnesota Vikings fan. I would not be an LA Vikings fan.

..Would you ever get it over your hearth to root for the Packers?

I would rather have my nuts nailed to a tree stump and then be pushed over backwards, than become a cheesehead / Packer fan.

Bwaahaaa! Not bad 93z, not bad at all.

However, I must point out some glaring errors in your rendering of "my guys".
First of all, they should be about 4 times that size and made of brass.
Secondly, that nail would never cut it (literally). You would need something the size of a railroad spike.
+1 for the effort!

It's kind of weird when things get shifted around. Like when we lost the Bucs. But alas, that's not a good example.

The Packers, Lions, Bears, and Vikings have been together in the same division for how many years now? 50? I don't want to see that break up. A move to LA would break it up.

The Bucs were only around since '76 so not really a big traditional thing. I only missed the Bucs moving because it was always 2 wins for us even when we sucked.

But imagine losing the Bear rivalry, for example. Who would we make fun of?

You can't make fun of Lions fans. Lions fans need hugs, not ribbing. That would be like laughing at a guy who just lost his house to a tornado.

I sincerely hope the Vikings stay in MN. Besides, you seriously don't want to go to LA. LA sucks. They have the worst fans. Most fair weather people out there. Plus, worst thing that ever happened to the Oakland Raiders was that move to LA. I hope Al Davis gets 100 years in purgatory for it. He deserves it. Now the Raiders clothes have become the official clothes for gang banging idiots.

The big thing for me here is, who do you root for if the Vikings leave town and you won't get a new franchise anytime soon?

I assume that most of you have picked teams because you lived/live close to them.

And I think that that will be a big factor for your new team.

Would you ever get it over your hearth to root for the Packers? Or the Bears, who are the 2nd closest to you guys? Do you just avoid all the NFC North teams and go for the AFC North or the AFC/NFC West? Or do you ignore location all together and go with whatever team you want?

I assume that you'd turn into a Bengals fan, but that could be a toughie for quite some people.

As for me personally, I'd be a straight up Bengal fan. Now, it would probably take me a year or two to warm up to the NFL again, but I would start cheering for the Bengals, as you have guessed. Only because I liked them prior to the possibility of the Vikings move. As for the rest of the NFL? They can all suck it. The Packers, Bears, Browns, and Steelers the most.

I think "continued fandom" would in no small measure hinge on who was perceived to be "at fault" in the event that the Vikings moved.

In Baltimore, the fans blamed the owner. (He slithered out of town) They lost that fanbase.

In Minnesota, I think it's quite another matter. The Vikings are putting an excellent "product" on the field, and based on what I have seen in both the media and over at PPO, most of the "blame" for not having a new stadium seems to fall upon the economic realities, coupled with a sense that the POPULATION isn't willing to "step up", contrasted with the FANS.

If that were to hold true, I'd bet that a much higher percentage of the fanbase will continue to root for the Vikings (hopefully renamed the LA drama queens :tongue3: ) than one might think, especially the "10 percenters" that do such things as regularly post on forums-

I remember when the Senators left DC. Everyone assumed that DC would get a new baseball team, but it took decades, even when EVERY demographic study showed it made perfect sense.

My bet is if the Vikings move, Minnesota will never get another NFL franchise.

Oh, I'm almost 100% sure Minnesota would get another NFL franchise. It wouldn't be a small hiatus from the NFL, though.. It would be a decade or so before the state (and it's commie government) to realize how much they missed that tax income and for a senator to get voted in office who happens to be a huge NFL fan. Then Minny would get another franchise.

I am a Minnesota Vikings fan. I would not be an LA Vikings fan.

The irony of your argument is that it's far more "commie" for a state to force the taxpayers to fund a sports franchise than it is for them to refuse such misuse of government funds. 😛

If the Vikings could man up and have an open Stadium, I'm game with them staying.

Lions, Packers, Bears and Vikings ... I say don't fuck with it.

I think we all joke about the stadium.. chuckle a little hear and there about it all.

But in the end.. I know 99.99% of us embrace the rivalry and the fine fans like VR, Formo and the PPO.. personally here.. I would miss the fun factor it brings.

And I think that alone speaks volumes.. now for the majority of Bear fans.. they can migrate all they want.. 😉

I never said anything about the state 'forcing' tax payers to fund a stadium (even though the state should put money into it, they are the ones that benefit the most with one). The legislature has refused to talk with the Vikings about a stadium for the past 10+ years.

All the state had to do was pass the Racino bill and not one penny of 'public' money would have gone towards the stadium. It would have been half paid for by the gamblers at Canterbury Park.
