And some of you guys told me to relax before this game.. BAH!

You can't relax when you know, some way, some how.. the football Gods are going to screw your ass with a wine bottle. Then someone whacks it with a cricket bat.

You don't relax when you know something like that is going to happen.

Let me start off by saying I don't blame Favre for this defeat, any more than I blame Rodgers for the Packers' defeat. Favre was the only Viking to show up to play yesterday. Watching the old man on the sideline in tears as his dreams went up in smoke was gut-wrenching. On the other hand, he is now the first person ever to finish his career with (presumably) three consecutive teams with an interception. They would have won that game had he simply run out of bounds -- he had an easy 10 yards ahead of him -- instead of throwing across his body.

That game pissed me off. It was more about who wanted to lose less than who wanted to win. If I had bought a ticket to that game, regardless of who I rooted for, I would have been livid. It was obvious that no matter who won, Peyton Manning, M.D., will methodically and surgically dissect them in the forthcoming Super Bowl. It's probably going to be a rout from the second quarter on.

Something that occurred to me this morning is I wonder if Favre's performance this year will spark a debate about the necessity of training camp, at least for veterans. If he can sign on in August, have a great season, and lead a team to the NFC Championship, what could other players do without the grind of offseason training? It wouldn't surprise me to see vested veterans attempt to negotiate clauses in their contracts that reduce their offseason obligations. Something to watch for.

For veterans, maybe. But it'll have to depend.

If you're dealing with a premier player like Favre or Strahan, maybe yeah, you can add some clause.

But some players benefit more from having that practice. Manning and Brady are a couple examples. On our team, it's Ryan Grant and Jermichael Finley.

Like, if you've proven you can take the grind that is the Off-Season, but still play at a high level ala Favre or Woodson, then yeah--go ahead. Skip Training Camp.

ok what i don't understand is how people are saying Favre lost this game. I guess people just ignore the fact that they were out of fg range. The head coach said it so he must have been told Longwell's range. Favre had a very bad ankle so no way in hell he is going to run.

i heard Jim Johnson and Deon Sanders both say the same thing, they were out of fg range so he had to try something and he was just late with it. Granted the Saints got handed a few gifts in OT from the refs but AP and the other putting the ball on the turf cost them the game.

To blame Favre solely for the loss is a bit inaccurate. I don't think that's the point. The point is that he had the ball in his hands and needed 5 yards max, and in a critical situation in an NFCC game he once again threw a dumb interception. You can't argue with the facts. It's enough to say that he threw an INT when they were literally 5 yards away from the Superbowl. If it weren't the Vikings it would be tragic.

I don't see the need to sugarcoat this. He's a man. He fucked up. It is what it is.

A interception takes away a scoring opportunity for your team..

the loss doesnt rest solely on his shoulders but he did have a hand in it..To say other wise is ignorant..

With that said still have to say.....with out him they never would have been in the game..He gave them the chance to win...

But in the long run

They brought Brett in to make THAT THROW

Exactly! Brett had the reputation as a QB you want when the game is on the line. In Aaron's first season people were saying we would have won certain games if Brett had been our QB because he could win the close game, Aaron couldn't. Well, Favre has proven that in the playoffs when it counts - he can't come through either and that's not Favre hate talking - that's facts.

None of the loud angry Vikings fans that jumped my ass prior to Week 17 have been found. And I was being nice to them! I was saying ya all got a decent team. Good teams win close games! I'd get some wicked stuff back and I was like damn so this is what small dick energy looks like.
