I guess I'm the only L. E. Modesitt, Jr. reader here.

When I saw the "burkha" reference in the title, I thought it was referring to a really spicy curried goat dish.

One I've always wanted to try, but have never had a goat. 🙂

What the hell? Why would you not allow people to wear what they want. It's not like female opression is a big deal in fucking Belgium.

I have a mainstream grocery store purchase for you.

"Tastee Choice" (frozen food section)

Shrimp Curry with Porotta

"A mild shrimp Curry served with traditional Indian bread"

"Premium skillet meal"

The bread is dead balls accurate. I spice it up with some crushed red pepper, add some shrimp, separate out the provided shrimp and pan sear both with butter and some old bay, stick back in the mix, and put it all over whatever rice ain't moving around here--a tad bit too much curry for me personally without the (surprisingly) not provided rice.

Give one a shot. I used to steal/share chow from a Pakistani liaison guy who's wife I would have liked to marry for the cooking alone. This is a thoroughly reasonable facsimile.

OK....here is why.
It covers the complete face.
Thus, it can be used to hide the identity of someone that may drop off a bomb somewhere.
I can't walk into a bank in June wearing a ski mask.
If a woman WANTS to wear one of those around her home, that's fine with me. But if they want to go to stores or other public places in America, then they can't "hide" behind religious freedom if it puts the public in possible danger.
Again, just my opinion.

Then err on the side of Freedom.

We should be able to walk into a bank wearing a ski mask. Legalize that. Allow everyone to cover their faces everywhere.

I'd much rather err on the side of Freedom.

I actually would prefer to be able to drive down the road with my face covered. This country is losing privacy fast. I think it's a step in the right direction.

And yes, I'm serious.

Here you are complaining Obama is taking your liberties away, and now you support this craziness?

And it just pisses me off that immediatly when we are talking about covering oneselfs face, the word terrorist pops up. It's been like 8 years since 9/11, MOVE ON.

Note: I'm not trying to downplay anything, but I think if you read my post you get my point. The rasicm towards middle eastern people, hell any kind of racism, is one of the things I hate most. Not that I interpreted your post as racist, just trying to put some disclaimers here and there.

Personally, I could care less if they wore on their faces/bodies. But at the same time, they shouldn't be surprised to feel like they are being 'judged' by the judgemental. It's like the theme song from Married With Children.. ..."You can't have one without the other"

And maybe you CAN have one without the other.. Doesn't mean you can't expect the other. Which they probably should. I mean, the nation WAS attacked by a radical group of Muslims.

I'm with zombie.

No one is entitled to see my face. If members of a society need to provide courtroom-quality identification at all public times, that society is well on the way to oblivion. Meaningful "society" cannot survive with that level of mistrust.

That way lies Britain with its eight gazillion video cameras.

That way lies the Patriot Act and totally non-ironic acceptance of a department called "homeland security."

Oh, wait. We're already there, aren't we?

Who cares if a burqa covers the face of someone who is carrying a bomb? Once they've blown themselves up, they won't have a face for identification purposes anyway. I can hide a bomb vest under my leather jacket without wearing any sort of face covering and no one will ever notice. Exposing my face will not make me any less of a threat. In fact, I would argue that a covered face is more likely to draw attention to a person, particularly in a Westernized country. A smart bomber would attempt to look as inconspicuous as possible.

I like what Wade said and my absolute worst nightmare would be if we ended up like the English. They live in a politically correct police state, worst of all worlds. And their food is awful.

We need MORE Freedom and MORE Privacy in this country, not less. Terrorists schmerrorists. They seriously don't scare me. Likelihood of being killed by a terrorist is something like 1/1000th of being killed by a bad driver in this country, even after 9/11 happened.

I wish Americans would have some faith in the American people. I certainly do. Historically, we've managed to survive much worse.

As for Europe, I don't support the route their going but that's their problem.

beast (10-Aug) : Yeah, someone tell the Packers football season has started, seems like they weren't ready for it
Mucky Tundra (10-Aug) : Sooooooo many penalties
Mucky Tundra (10-Aug) : It may only be preseason, but this game is a trip to the dentist

TheKanataThrilla (9-Aug) : NFL Network is broadcasting the game tonight, but not in Canada. Not sure why as no local television is showing the game.
beast (8-Aug) : But the Return from IR designations had to be applied by the 53 man cutdown.
beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Apparently it is too complicated for several to follow your simple instructions, but I digress
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Zero- Did you see what I posted about Voice of Reason and his wife? She posted over at fleaflicker that they are both "In"
Zero2Cool (7-Aug) : Well, not crazy, it makes sense. Crazy I didn't notice/find it earlier
Zero2Cool (7-Aug) : it's crazy how one stored procedure to get data bogged everything down for speed here
dfosterf (7-Aug) : to herd cats or goldfish without a bowl. They reminded me of the annual assembly of our fantasy league
dfosterf (7-Aug) : out on a field trip, outfitting them with little yellow smocks. Most of the little folk were well behaved, but several were like trying
dfosterf (7-Aug) : Yesterday my wife and I spent the afternoon on the waterfront here in Alexandria, Va. A daycare company took about 15 three/four year olds
wpr (7-Aug) : seems faster. yay
dfosterf (7-Aug) : Wife of reason posted on the in/out thread on fleaflicker that both she and vor are in
Zero2Cool (7-Aug) : This page was generated in 0.135 seconds.
Mucky Tundra (7-Aug) : Tbh, I can never tell the difference in speed unless it's completely shitting the bed
Zero2Cool (7-Aug) : Sure does feel like site is more snappy
Zero2Cool (6-Aug) : I thought that was the Lions OL
Mucky Tundra (6-Aug) : Travis Glover placed on IR; seasons over for him
Zero2Cool (6-Aug) : found bad sql in database, maybe site faster now?
dfosterf (5-Aug) : I'm going to call that a good move.
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Packers sign CB Corey Ballentine
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : I'm not sure how to kill the draft order just yet so it's not so confusing.
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : *to be able
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : and because it's not a dynasty league (which makes a lot more sense to be ability to trade picks)
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Oh I know; I was just exploring and it blew my mind that you could trade picks because of the whole reordering thing
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Zero, I think I preferred my offer: your 1st for my 15th rounder
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Keep in mind, we do a draft reorder once all members locked in
