Natural gas though in the future will be feasible when India and China bring up the demand for oil enough to make natural gas effective. We got a lot of natural gas in this country.

We won't be free of oil any time soon, and when we do, it will shake the world. The global economy basically runs on oil.

Even if we eliminated our transportation dependence on oil, we would still need oil for the foreseeable future. Virtually all of our plastics are manufactured from petroleum, as are our pharmaceuticals. Interestingly, though, my university uses plastic cups made from corn starch, so there are alternatives.

We have a brand here called "Organic Girl" which makes pretty dang good salads. Although I get 90% of my greens from the local Farmer's market, in the offseason I buy these pre-made salads. They not only have organic greens but make the plastic out of corn as well, and it's recyclable.

Technology can be a good thing. Good to see scientists with consciences. They exist and need to be recognized.

There is a reason that main stream companies don't embrace renewable technology like items made from corn.. because it would allow normal everyday people with acreage of land to plant, cultivate and grow the source such as corn.

They wouldn't be able to crimp the people with a monopoly of sorts.. the revenue stream would be diluted amongst many.

And that isn't foreign interests preventing it.. it is Big Oil and the hands it feeds here.. including our government in Washington.

So in conclusion.. reducing our dependency on foreign oil would help.. we have to get past those that really control our energy crunch in the US.. Big Oil.

I showed my Japanese kanojo the picture of the girl in my avatar and jokingly asked if she was her sister. She said no, and asked if the girl was my type. Awkward. I punted by saying, "I don't know. I haven't met her." She didn't question it, which surprised me, because this girl is absurdly jealous and possessive.
