44 Donnie Anderson. Not a fantastic RB...but a helluva punter:

1967: 63 punts. Total of 13 returned. For 22 yards. Total.

So, can Starks punt?
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Packers minicamp one-liners

by Josh Alper

Packers T Bryan Bulaga talked about the transition process to the NFL and his own status as a work in progress.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy said he's happy with the talent level he's seen from Tim Masthay and Chris Bryan, the two punters at this weekend's minicamp.

Marshall Newhouse mostly lined up next to Bulaga as a left guard but the Packers did take a short look at him at his college position of left tackle.

The Packers think rookie defensive linemen Mike Neal and C.J. Wilson will provide a boost to the pass rush.

Undrafted rookie LB John Russell had teams looking at him as a defensive lineman and fullback as well during the pre-draft scouting season.

Frank Zombo, another undrafted player, is also making the transition to linebacker after having his hand on the ground as a college lineman.

Aleric Mullins has the right build for a nose tackle but he'll have to prove to the Packers that it was a mistake to overlook him in the draft.

Again, all the one-liners have a link to an article in them, so click on the link and check them out over at PFT.

Packers announce three tryout signings
By Tom Silverstein of the Journal Sentinel

May 3, 2010 5:33 p.m. |(9) Comments

North Carolina nose tackle Aleric Mullins and Tennessee State safety Anthony Levine joined Bishops University wide receiver Shawn Gore as tryout players who signed contracts after the Packers' rookie orientation camp.

The 6-1, 319-pound Mullins went undrafted because most teams were afraid of a recently discovered heart murmur, but the Packers examined test results and passed him on his physical. He ran the 40 in 4.95 seconds and did 35 reps on the bench press at his pro day.

The 5-11, 195-pound Levine played in 40 games and had 129 tackles, five interceptions and two fumble recoveries.

Gore was profiled in the previous blog post.

The Packers have the rights to 88 players, but they are not over the 80-man limit because all seven draft choices are unsigned as are restricted free agents Daryn Colledge, Atari Bigby, Tramon Williams and Johnny Jolly. Only signed players count against the 80.

I think there will be some very interesting competition in camp this summer and preseason. I really like the players we're bringing in this year, both the draft choices and the rookie FAs.
Why is Jerry Kramer not in the Hall of Fame?

College coach on safety Anthony Levine
By Brian Carriveau

May 7, 2010 1:11 p.m. |(0) Comments

The Green Bay Packers announced the signing of safety Anthony Levine on Monday. He was one of three players who earned a contract with the Packers after a tryout at last weekend's rookie orientation minicamp. Railbird Central had the opportunity to do a brief Q&A with Roderick Reed, Levine's head coach at Tennessee State University.

Railbird Central: Levine put up as good of workout numbers as nearly any safety at the NFL Combine. Could you describe what makes him such a good overall athlete?

Coach Roderick Reed: Levine is a hard worker and has the and had the ability to play corner. We needed him at safety for his knowledge of the defense and ability to put us in the right coverage and sometimes change the defense. He has great return skills, but I could not risk getting him hurt back there because of his value to our defense. He works very hard at his craft, often organizing 7-on-7 compitions with local colleges in the summer. He has fun with what he does and loves to play football, and he is also graduating tomorrow.

RC: What would you say is the best part of Levine's game?

RR: The best part of his game is knowing angles and mental preparation. He is physical enough to roll down in the box, and athletic enough to play centerfield or cover man-to-man.

RC: To go from a tryout to an NFL roster, players in Levine's position will most likely have to contribute heavily to special teams. What can Levine do on special teams?

RR: To me, for him to have to try out was a joke. I think someone should have drafted him. Everyone saw his numbers. He had good stats, but I am truly thankful to Green Bay for giving him an opportunity. Although, he should have been in the East West. Now that I have that off of my chest, he is a great special teams player. He was on our kick-off and kick-off return teams and he also returned a couple of punts.

RC: What was one of Levine's best games as a collegiate athlete? What did he do?

RR: Pick any game his senior year. He was big in Eastern Kentucky and Eastern Illiniois, allso Jackson State. The biggest thing about him is his consistency week in and week out.

Not trying to start shit or rip on anyon. But after years of AC, and finally getting our wish, now years of Bush, and maybe getting our wish, who will be the most "hated" player on the packers roster? Harrell? Breno? Jennings:)?
We are born naked, wet and hungry. Then things get worse.

dfosterf (1h) : Just gotta figure out how.
dfosterf (1h) : Could have been a worse start, so there is that.
beast (2h) : Yeah, someone tell the Packers football season has started, seems like they weren't ready for it
Mucky Tundra (2h) : Sooooooo many penalties
Mucky Tundra (2h) : It may only be preseason, but this game is a trip to the dentist
Zero2Cool (3h) : Packers do bad -- FREAK OUT!!!!!!
Zero2Cool (3h) : Packers do good -- eh only preseason

Mucky Tundra (9h) : THE GREEN BAY PACKERS ARE PLAYING FOOTBALL TONIGHT!!!!!! THIS IS NOT A DRILL!!!!
Zero2Cool (10h) : Woo-hoo
TheKanataThrilla (10h) : NFL Network is broadcasting the game tonight, but not in Canada. Not sure why as no local television is showing the game.
beast (8-Aug) : But the Return from IR designations had to be applied by the 53 man cutdown.
beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Apparently it is too complicated for several to follow your simple instructions, but I digress
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Zero- Did you see what I posted about Voice of Reason and his wife? She posted over at fleaflicker that they are both "In"
Zero2Cool (7-Aug) : Well, not crazy, it makes sense. Crazy I didn't notice/find it earlier
Zero2Cool (7-Aug) : it's crazy how one stored procedure to get data bogged everything down for speed here
dfosterf (7-Aug) : to herd cats or goldfish without a bowl. They reminded me of the annual assembly of our fantasy league
dfosterf (7-Aug) : out on a field trip, outfitting them with little yellow smocks. Most of the little folk were well behaved, but several were like trying
dfosterf (7-Aug) : Yesterday my wife and I spent the afternoon on the waterfront here in Alexandria, Va. A daycare company took about 15 three/four year olds
wpr (7-Aug) : seems faster. yay
dfosterf (7-Aug) : Wife of reason posted on the in/out thread on fleaflicker that both she and vor are in
Zero2Cool (7-Aug) : This page was generated in 0.135 seconds.
Mucky Tundra (7-Aug) : Tbh, I can never tell the difference in speed unless it's completely shitting the bed
Zero2Cool (7-Aug) : Sure does feel like site is more snappy
Zero2Cool (6-Aug) : I thought that was the Lions OL
Mucky Tundra (6-Aug) : Travis Glover placed on IR; seasons over for him
Zero2Cool (6-Aug) : found bad sql in database, maybe site faster now?
dfosterf (5-Aug) : I'm going to call that a good move.
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Packers sign CB Corey Ballentine
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : I'm not sure how to kill the draft order just yet so it's not so confusing.
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : *to be able
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : and because it's not a dynasty league (which makes a lot more sense to be ability to trade picks)
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Oh I know; I was just exploring and it blew my mind that you could trade picks because of the whole reordering thing
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Zero, I think I preferred my offer: your 1st for my 15th rounder
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Keep in mind, we do a draft reorder once all members locked in
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : You can have my 12th Rd for your 2nd round
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Hey i didn't know we could trade picks in fantasy
Mucky Tundra (3-Aug) : Update: Rock has tried a cheese curd, promises it's not his last
Zero2Cool (3-Aug) : watch it!! lol
Mucky Tundra (3-Aug) : you're right, we never did leave, the site just went down :P
