I for the life of me couldn't figure this out either. I guess he was hoping for a fumble but you are really grasping at straws there. You HAVE to let the other team score. Not only that but that challenge was a complete waste and cost them the third time out which would of gave them the ball back with a little under a minute. Just horrible clock management all around. Sad.

As for Mike McCarthy's decision to challenge that play . . . he deserves a one-game suspension for that stroke of brilliance alone.

This, I think, is a serious problem. Three games in, and he seems to be calling very stupid challenges.

Slocum deserves credit for the improved ST performance in the first two games. But this game, we seemingly regressed beyond what our play was last year. I did not think that was possible.

Sherman totally sucked on challenges. Just didn't know wtf he was doing. MM's good at it, but lately he seems to be thinking too much and trying to use them for greater strategic purposes. Just use the red flags for replays, MM. Don't worry about the greater strategic bullshit.

AADP, I'd far rather have time on the clock and the ball in the hands of my playmakers than no time on the clock and on my knees praying for luck.

Any other game, I would have agreed with you.

At Chicago with Peppers terrorizing our Tackles and our two best playmakers cramping up (A-Rod and J-Mike)... I just do not think we had even a slight shot at scoring a TD.

I feel weird writing that because I think the world of him, but I do not think he could have made chicken salad out of chicken shit tonight under his circumstances.

You have a much better chance with the ball in his hands and a minute then you do with 8 or 5 seconds and a kickoff.

Normally yes.

But not when you are in as hostile an environment as Chicago, have Tackles that are playing terrible, and your top two playmakers have been dealing with cramps.

Call me crazy but even if Flynn was out there QB'ing you have a better chance then you do with a kickoff and under 10 seconds.

I think there is a better chance of driving down the field for a touchdown than there is a kicker missing an extra point, which that field goal really was. Playing the odds, he made the wrong call.

Look, I think McCarthy shouldn't take much blame for this loss, but he did make a few questionable calls late in the game. Specifically, the challenge of James Jones' awful fumble and not letting the Bears score so your offense can get the ball back.

That was shorter than an extra point. We had a better CHANCE of winning than one of the better kickers in the league missing that field goal, regardless of cramps. Bad decision no matter how it's spun, IMO.

What really burns me up is ignoramuses will say that Chicago dominated the Packers, when precisely the opposite is true.

The Packers dominated the Bears, however the Packers also dominated the Packers, which is why we lost. We can't win against two teams at once.

beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔

Zero2Cool (6-Aug) : I thought that was the Lions OL
Mucky Tundra (6-Aug) : Travis Glover placed on IR; seasons over for him
Zero2Cool (6-Aug) : found bad sql in database, maybe site faster now?
dfosterf (5-Aug) : I'm going to call that a good move.
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Packers sign CB Corey Ballentine
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : I'm not sure how to kill the draft order just yet so it's not so confusing.
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : *to be able
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : and because it's not a dynasty league (which makes a lot more sense to be ability to trade picks)
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Oh I know; I was just exploring and it blew my mind that you could trade picks because of the whole reordering thing
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Zero, I think I preferred my offer: your 1st for my 15th rounder
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Keep in mind, we do a draft reorder once all members locked in
