If the game is on the line, I don't have enough confidence in Jones at this point to throw him the ball.

Hell with the drops this season.. I might have to elect Jordy with the opportunity over the other 3 wideouts.. Driver, Jennings and Jones have all suffered drops early this season.

If Finley's on the field.. he is the set of hands and size I have the most faith in.

Nelson has also had his share of drops -- go back to the Washington game.

I think Jones showed his playmaking ability. I'm all for him. His "drop" issues are no more prevalent than our best receivers, Driver and Jennings. That high pass that he reigned in, the TD off of the slant pattern, the deep ball where the defender was flagged for illegal contact -- all were great examples of what he can bring to the table.
William Henderson didn't have to run people over. His preferred method was levitation.

So far, to be considered the type of receiver HE wants to be considered, he needs to make the bigger catches and not drop the damn ball. He is not a #2 receiver right now. Unfortunately, he is a cocky s.o.b., which I don't feel fits with the Pack organization but we put up with Finley's cockiness so why not add him on.

As far as his performance last night, he came up big (minus the fumble). Driver is still the #2 man. He draws a lot of attention, even when injured. He makes the big catches and rarely drops a pass AND he is a quiet leader on and off the field.

I also see Driver being the kind of player (down the road) to take a smaller role so a guy like Jones can be a #2 if deserved.

Very good talent but like it's been mentioned by others, he's very inconsistent. Great #3 guy though and he showed yesterday he can be a good #2 if he's given the opportunity.

He's more dangerous than Driver and should be our future #2.

IMO a big game against the cowboys or #3 CB doesn't mean he's better than Driver who's better going against better CBs all year than him.

Jennings looked a heck lot better going against #2 CBs than when teams started covering him with the #1 CB.

But I've been waiting for Jones and/or Nelson to break out... I think they need to give them both chances to have break outs. And why not? Driver, Finley, Grant and Quarless down why not give jones and Nelson every chance to break out?

Also I love getting Jackson involved in the short passing game and I think it's needed. Other teams have been covering deep trying to clog up the WRs down field so need to get short passes going...

If the fumble yesterday had been recovered by the Cowboys, it could have swung the game. And the drop of what probably would have been a TD are HUGE knocks against him.
But at the same time, he went up and got some balls that were VERY difficult catches.
He needs to be more consistant. Catch and not fumble. If we had been playing a good team, those 2 bad plays could kill you.

Call me easy, but eight catches for 123 yards and a TD is good enough for me.

All receivers drop passes. Jones drops more than most, but not enough to negate his good plays. And as receivers mature, they generally drop fewer and fewer passes. I'm starting to think that Driver may be finished as the #2 WR after this year, or maybe even for the rest of this year. Jones can make tough catches and is way more of a deep threat than Driver.

That's a good point.

We're already using Driver in the slot a whole lot, but I can imagine that the snaps that Donald is seeing now on the outside will diminish even further, giving way to Jones to be "the real starter".

Driver might've had his last 1000 yard season last year, following the same arc of decline as Isaac Bruce did.

But really, that's just pure speculation. I hope he keeps going strong.

I think re-signing Jones is important. Driver is a question mark right now going forward and if we lost Jennings say we'd be down to Nelson, Finley and Swain without Jones.

I wonder if his inconsistency is linked to the fact we have some many receivers. Jones may be a rhythm receiver and needs the reps to really getting into the swing of things. Once Driver goes he may actually get that.

Or maybe I'm just making excuses for the guy.

One thing that seems odd is that early in his career the coaches said his best attribute was his sure hands. In fact both he and Jordy were praised for their catching ability yet have struggled in that dept.

I hope he does too. He's been my favorite player on the team for a long time now. But seeing what happened to Al Harris today has reminded me that Driver won't be here forever either.
