I really hope Ted Thompson sees that we need Cullen Jenkins....it could have been a whole different game if he had played. He is good at everything, and is a prototypical DE for the 3-4.

If nothing else, he demands attention from the offense, opening up opportunities for other players (similar to what Clay Matthews does).

Although I agree that Cullen makes a big difference in the pass rush and containment on runs, AND deserves a to be payed well, if you're insinuating that he would have made the difference in this loss, I disagree

I'm not saying it would have been the game changer, but it CERTAINLY would have helped. We got ran over, literally.

If we had stopped the run, it could have helped us in a few ways, one being field position.

Ted had no clue Cullen was important. He's glad you made this thread and pointed it out to him.

Detroit's been averaging 20-some points per game at home. The defense showed up today. As usual, the offense did not.

lol @ sarcasm.

Frankly, Cullen or not we've got the potential making of an exception D-line next year.

Raji / Pickett / Neal / Jolly (if he can stay out of trouble).

Cullen would be like a cherry on top of that Sunday. Add in Justin Harrell and... I kid, I kid.

Would love to have him back. He'd fortify our D-line depth to the point of making me cry while doing back-flips off someone's front porch.

Understand that I'm not trying to bash anyone here. I'm just saying that it was obvious today how valuable Cullen Jenkins is.

My bad, I guess.

Everyone know this. Ted, Mike, you, even the dense me know this. Cullen is easily our best DL which many have said several times.

Extending a players contract is not as easy as throwing money down. There's many aspects that play into it. One being does the player want to stay here? Two, does the player want more years than his projected skill allows? Three, can we afford his demands, etc ... tons of factors going it.

Fact is, everyone knows Cullen is a stud.

Funny thread topic on a day like today. I laughed.

It's a good thread after this tough loss; shifts the focus somewhat away from the game.

Frankly, Cullen is getting old and he has been marked throughout his career by an inconsistency to finish sacks. He has value, definitely, but it's not like he is indispensable to our D-line.

We do have depth behind him with Neal, but if he can is willing to resign at a fair price than certainly signing him to a long term contract is worth it. I think considering his value is higher than Pickett, he'd want more than what Pickett got this off-season. It'll be interesting to see if the Packers are willing to give him that considering his age and the CBA expiring.

But you could always use a guy like Jenkins, for sure.

beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.

Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : *to be able
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : and because it's not a dynasty league (which makes a lot more sense to be ability to trade picks)
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Oh I know; I was just exploring and it blew my mind that you could trade picks because of the whole reordering thing
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Zero, I think I preferred my offer: your 1st for my 15th rounder
