How much money will this exactly save?

I'm 100% sold that this is as much about politics as anything is, but it is also about saving money and fixing the budget. All you hear is politics everywhere you look, but nobody seems to have a figure. How much does this plan save?

Also, I listened to Walker talk a few days ago. He says that getting rid of collective bargaining is necessary because unions would just negotiate their pensions and health care back to what it was prior to the passage of the bill.

Do you have to erase them permanently? Why doesnt he temporary suspend the rights to negotiate on those two specific issues?

Unions are the enemy of Republican business men. They want to be in ultimate control of a negotiation process and give the employees crumbs in which they will determine. But the bad thing about unions is that they negotiate wage and benefits in the good years that are above and beyond anything sustainable; and then when times are bad, they are unwilling to give back anything.

I'm sorry but an assemlbly line worker for UAW who has a simple task to perform is not a $30 an hour man. He is a way overpaid $12 an hour man at best.

Unions would not be a necessary animal in todays work market if the business owner didn't take the position that workers are a dime a dozen. If you've ever owned your own businees you'll understand quickly that workers most definitely aren't a dime a dozen, in fact if you are lucky enough to find a reliable worker, you take care of that man no matter what it takes.

Porky - 300 million seems to be the number that keeps being cited. I don't know if that's per year, for the 2011-2013 budget or what that means, but somehow 300 million is being thrown around.

What people are going to love in all of this, though, is that he hasn't even proposed the budget yet (March 1)...this is hardly even the beginning of his attack on the public sector. Rumors of month-long closures of state departments, 900 million in additional education cuts, 20% tuition hikes and who knows what else is down the pipeline.

Thanks man, but I really am a conflicted person at this point in my life. See I do believe in the Republican party in that you work for what you get and you extract from life what you put into it. But as I've grown older, I've realized that the Republican way is predicated on on a fixed game in that all the rules, that I was brought up to believe, are heavily favored to the offspring of the upper mid class and wealthy.

What I truly would like to see is an even playing field for everyone from birth, and then each person could earn the lives they have instead of some being entitled to their predestened lives of leisure, whereas others struggle from the woom to the grave because of the decisions and/or race and culture of their parents. Maybe I feel differently than most Republicans because I did pull myself up by the bootsraps instead of having all the advantages, but I do see a need for social programs to help those in need, when so many others don't give a shit.

The man has 3.6 billion to cut over the next two or three years. No question this is the first step.

His problem is not that the unions need to be broke, but that the unions take so long to negotiate, time of which he doesn't feel he has.

Also, how much respect can you have for a union who honestly feels that Viagra is something that should be covered as a perk? (yes, this was a big issue last year with the teachers union in Wisconsin)

beast (8-Aug) : But the Return from IR designations had to be applied by the 53 man cutdown.
beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔

Zero2Cool (7-Aug) : Sure does feel like site is more snappy
Zero2Cool (6-Aug) : I thought that was the Lions OL
Mucky Tundra (6-Aug) : Travis Glover placed on IR; seasons over for him
Zero2Cool (6-Aug) : found bad sql in database, maybe site faster now?
dfosterf (5-Aug) : I'm going to call that a good move.
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Packers sign CB Corey Ballentine
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : I'm not sure how to kill the draft order just yet so it's not so confusing.
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : *to be able
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : and because it's not a dynasty league (which makes a lot more sense to be ability to trade picks)
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Oh I know; I was just exploring and it blew my mind that you could trade picks because of the whole reordering thing
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Zero, I think I preferred my offer: your 1st for my 15th rounder
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Keep in mind, we do a draft reorder once all members locked in
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : You can have my 12th Rd for your 2nd round
