The only reason Bradshaw sniffs the top 15 of all time was the four super bowl rings that he "drove the car" for. He wasn't a "good" quarterback, he was an adequate game manager with a strong arm, blessed with great receivers who went up and got the balls he hung up. Chuck Nole was a great coach and their defense were intimidators, who some might call borderline dirty. Ask a Houston Oiler fan if they even deserved to be in a couple of those super bowls.

I don't know that I can name off 14 better than him, but I just don't see Terry Bradshaw and one of the top 15. I think he was a very good QB and is underrated, but not sure how I feel about saying he was one of the best 15 ever.

Regarding the asking of an Oiler fan about being in the Super Bowl, even Viking's fan's feel they deserved to be in a Super Bowl, that proves nothing.

...Of course, I have a real problem giving Socrates Bradshaw any credit either. They should put asterisks by QB winners whose defenses carried the team and that includes Joe Montana's vicotory over the Bengals.

In that case you had better break out some more of those asterisks little buddy.

Terry Bradshaw > Bart Starr

Ray Nitschke and the Packers defense carried Starr.

Bart Starr should be benched
With a mediocre college career, it's no surprise that Starr fell to the 200th pick in the 1956 NFL draft.....
.....As a first-time starter the Packers went just 3-8 in Starr's starts.
Even worse, in two of Starr's wins as a starter, it was backup Babe Parilli who was the hero, throwing the game-winning touchdowns against Chicago and Baltimore. ....

If Starr was ever going to become something, 1958 was the year. Fans don't give four years to first round picks, let alone 17th round picks. So how did Starr do?
If you like numbers, he was 78 for 157 (49.7%), threw 3 TDs against 12 INTs and averaged just 5.6 yards per attempt....

Lest you forget, Starr went 0-3-1 in the Packers first four games, before being replaced by Babe Parilli....

Dem's fighting words, gnomish one.

Of course, then again, Minnesota's greatest coach was a mute icefisherman and its second greatest coach was a purple dinosaur wannabe.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

I know you're a little slow breathing that light air in Colorado, but that was reference to the officials handing the Steelers a playoff game or two. I'm not it awe of that organization.

As for my purple nemisis, I was pretty much shitting in my diaper when Bart Starr played, but from the footage I watched he was damn good at handing the ball off, and that pass 3 yards behind Max McGee in the Super Bowl was something only Tarkenton could have rivaled.

I'm going to rate them by the only category that really counts to me: winning.

That's an impressive # of NFL championships between the two of them.

Personally, anybody who quarterbacks 5 NFL championships can be my QB anyday...

Too much credit is given to quarterbacks for winning championships. Some of the best quarterbacks have never one a championship, not because of their faults, but because their GM and team coaches couldn't put enough talent around them to get the job done.

And then there were quarterbacks who had plenty of opportunities to win it all but found uniquely creative ways to shoot themselves in the foot.

Thanks Non, that play never gets old. I think the great Payton Manning has choked his ass off quite a bit too.

"UhOh!" LOLOL!!!

You know......even before i read Vikesrule's "Bart Starr" post, i was actually thinking the same thing. Starr was not a great QB numbers wise. He had, what, 156 career TD's? (I could be wrong on the number, going by memory).
But he did enough to win, and didn't throw games away. He was a good game manager.
So you can't say Terry Bradshaw wasn't a good leader. Could someone else have done as good with the Steeler's defense back then? Maybe so, maybe not. But Bradshaw DID do it, so you can't knock the guy too much.
Football is a team sport. You need all the parts to work in order to win multiple championships. Just about anyone can win ONE. (Unless your a member of the Vikings.....LOL!)
Trent Dilfer has a SB ring, Doug Williams, and so on. If you can secure more then one in today's NFL, with free agency and all, it's quite an accomplishment in my view. Guess we will see with AR......if we have a football season this year, that is.

Cheesey my problem is with the conventional line of thinking that the ring makes you the better quarterback. I would take Dan Marino over Joe Montana ten out of ten times, yet Montana is a demigod because he won the super bowls. The quarterbacks with the most talent are the gunslingers: Marino, Elway, Favre, and Manning.

Fortunately we now have a gunslinger that plays witin the system. Hopefully we keep building a dominent defense so we can add to our trophy case.

beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Apparently it is too complicated for several to follow your simple instructions, but I digress

Zero2Cool (6-Aug) : I thought that was the Lions OL
Mucky Tundra (6-Aug) : Travis Glover placed on IR; seasons over for him
Zero2Cool (6-Aug) : found bad sql in database, maybe site faster now?
dfosterf (5-Aug) : I'm going to call that a good move.
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Packers sign CB Corey Ballentine
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : I'm not sure how to kill the draft order just yet so it's not so confusing.
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : *to be able
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : and because it's not a dynasty league (which makes a lot more sense to be ability to trade picks)
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Oh I know; I was just exploring and it blew my mind that you could trade picks because of the whole reordering thing
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Zero, I think I preferred my offer: your 1st for my 15th rounder
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Keep in mind, we do a draft reorder once all members locked in
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : You can have my 12th Rd for your 2nd round
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Hey i didn't know we could trade picks in fantasy
