I can't believe how shitty the Bengals are treating Carson. I wouldn't want him to leave either, but at the same time you are just showing other players in the league that you don't care about them and only the business side of the deal. At least trade him.. You will get something in return instead of forcing the guy to either A)retire, or B)play half-assed. Either way, your team is screwed.

Brown and his cronies haven't done that franchise any justice. He's worse than Jerry Jones.

Correct.. but from a players perspective that contract doesn't mean diddly if the team wishes to cut you.

Ask Nick Barnett today.

Point is, that deal was signed long ago, Mike Brown isn't capable of putting a winning team on the field.. so what other options does Carson have?

He made it simple for the Bengals.. trade me and get some compensation or allow me to retire and get jack.

He made one statement, did it in a professional manner.. I am okay with it in this case.

After all it is the Bengals, Carson has treated the franchise correctly, and he committed some time ago.

Factors change.. life changes.. to me it is like a divorce.. it is time to move on.

If anything.. it is a lesson for players, don't sign a long term deal. Sign for a couple season (4) max. Give yourself an out.. you can always resign another deal if it makes sense for all parties.

But looking at the history of Brown and how his model of 'business' has gone.. Looks to me it isn't working. There's a thing called 'being reasonable'. In this case, Brown and Co. are NOT exercising that skill.

It's one thing when Ochocinco throws a tantrum and the FO guys play hardball. But when it's your QB that has done nothing but bust his balls in the most professional manner (and probably screwed up his knee for life mind you).. makes one wonder if it really isn't the players CONTRACTED on the field that's to blame for the lack of success.

My point: It doesn't make any sense, business or football, to keep a guy in shackles without even the respect for him to have a ransom. All they are doing is either burying a career or wasting $11 million dollars.

They should just let players jump to whichever team they want, when they want and save the paperwork of contracts. Right?

I don't much like it when teams cut players before the end of the contract and I don't much care for players trying to force the teams hand in letting them play elsewhere.

A contract is a contract, period. HONOR THE FUCKING THING YOU SIGNED YOUR NAME TOO!

What you're saying ... my opinion, bullshit way to do business, but hey, you're a Vikings fan so what the hell do you know about a successful franchise?

(ok that was a low blow, but cmon it was funneh!!! lol)

Report: Vikings, Redskins talking McNabb trade

Apparently the Vikings haven't learned their lesson. Then again, '09 was pretty awesome for them. And ended awesome for ... me. 🙂

I called that earlier this offseason.. McNabb to the Vikes.. best news I heard all day.. even better than Jones cutting salary.

McNabb just doesn't have "it".. AP better have a great year with McNabb in MN.

beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Apparently it is too complicated for several to follow your simple instructions, but I digress

Zero2Cool (7-Aug) : it's crazy how one stored procedure to get data bogged everything down for speed here
dfosterf (7-Aug) : to herd cats or goldfish without a bowl. They reminded me of the annual assembly of our fantasy league
dfosterf (7-Aug) : out on a field trip, outfitting them with little yellow smocks. Most of the little folk were well behaved, but several were like trying
dfosterf (7-Aug) : Yesterday my wife and I spent the afternoon on the waterfront here in Alexandria, Va. A daycare company took about 15 three/four year olds
wpr (7-Aug) : seems faster. yay
dfosterf (7-Aug) : Wife of reason posted on the in/out thread on fleaflicker that both she and vor are in
Zero2Cool (7-Aug) : This page was generated in 0.135 seconds.
Mucky Tundra (7-Aug) : Tbh, I can never tell the difference in speed unless it's completely shitting the bed
Zero2Cool (7-Aug) : Sure does feel like site is more snappy
Zero2Cool (6-Aug) : I thought that was the Lions OL
Mucky Tundra (6-Aug) : Travis Glover placed on IR; seasons over for him
Zero2Cool (6-Aug) : found bad sql in database, maybe site faster now?
dfosterf (5-Aug) : I'm going to call that a good move.
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Packers sign CB Corey Ballentine
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : I'm not sure how to kill the draft order just yet so it's not so confusing.
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : *to be able
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : and because it's not a dynasty league (which makes a lot more sense to be ability to trade picks)
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Oh I know; I was just exploring and it blew my mind that you could trade picks because of the whole reordering thing
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Zero, I think I preferred my offer: your 1st for my 15th rounder
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Keep in mind, we do a draft reorder once all members locked in
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : You can have my 12th Rd for your 2nd round
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Hey i didn't know we could trade picks in fantasy
