Thank you Pack93z.

Zero - There you go. That's why he'll be nominated for the Hall.

Like I said, he won't get in. But he'll be nominated.

Stopping another team's running game should be considerably less of a priority than stopping another team's passing game. Any team that doesn't see that is foolish and will not go very far in the NFL.

This is 2011. Not 1962. The NFL wants high scoring games. They've adjusted the rules to make passing easy.

What the coaches and players are saying is that stopping the running game--making the other team one-dimensional on offense--frees them up to get after the QB and the passing game. So, ultimately, they're stopping the running game so they can be better at stopping the passing game.

Same concept as on offense--if you're one-dimensional (pass all of the time and don't have a credible running attack) the other team can tee off on your QB and drop everybody else back in coverage. A credible running game opens up your passing game and makes it better.

My point was simple. When Grant went down and B-Jack was showing that he's not a very good 1st & 2nd down back, there was a lot of panic. I said we'd still win the SB without a running game and showed countless examples of how many teams won the SB with a mediocre or worse running game.

I was right. We handed off the ball 11 times and got something like 55 yards rushing.

We won.

While we're at it, it would be really cool if we had a killer KR/PR. Not necessary, but would be really nice to have.

By the way, check my sig. I made 3 predictions last year. 2 of them were right.

(Also, the Steelers knew we'd be throwing a lot. They did everything they could to stop Aaron. They couldn't).

And lastly, I would much rather be talking about McNabb. I still get why people hate him so much. Pack93z showed the stats I was talking about.

#1 is a good defense, and Philly had one of the best under Jim Johnson during this period.

On offense, they had a running game that generated over 2000 yds rushing annually with playmakers like Brian Westbrook/Duce Staley to take some of the pressure off McNabb (though McNabb accounted for 400 of those yds).

McNabb was tremendous in his early career--leading the team in passing AND rushing in 2000, for example. And his receiving corps sucked until TO arrived in 2004--Todd Pinkston, James Thrash his leading receivers? I just felt he tapered off after a terrific start.

I love playing "balanced offenses." The most important player in a balanced O is the Punter.

They're a perfect example of D winning championships as their O was mediocre. The Eagles were #2 D but waaaay behind the Bucs. Bucs knocked them out then went on to win it all.

2004 was their next year. #2 D once more (tied with the Pats) but the Pats were just a better team and beat them by a FG. McNabb played his heart out that game and came up short.

After that, the Eagles as a team tapered off and McNabb only played one full season without injury.

When were they #1? I don't see it. My source is pro-football-reference.com
