For anyone who has the slightest doubt that Rodgers will and should win, and think that Brees should get any consideration I present this to you:

1.224

Drew Brees has thrown the ball 1.224 times more than Aaron Rodgers this season. Sure, Brees is going to kill the yardage record, but he's throwing more than anyone in the league too.

To look at it another way, if we average out Rodger's stats to cover a 16 game season, and multiply them all by 1.224, we end up with this:

448 completions
655 attempts
6065 yards
59 TDs
8 INTs

When you look at it this way, there really is no doubt that Rodgers is the only reasonable choice for MVP, nor that he is having one of the best seasons in the history of the game.

Just for kicks, if Rodgers threw as much as Brady did in 2007, he would have 5345 yards and 52 TDs to 7 INTs, compared to 4906, 50 and 8 respectively.

Peyton Manning's 2004 season is very close.

If Aaron Rodgers doesn't win the MVP, then something is very wrong with the voting process. Drew Brees is playing well, but Rodgers is having one of the greatest single seasons in history. The yardage stat is overrated in today's NFL. Dan Marino's 5,000-plus yard season in the mid 80s is always going to be more impressive than 5,000 yards in today‘s NFL. I think most levelheaded voters will see it that way.

Rebounding after a crappy Chiefs game to throw 5 TD's without his top WR ... I don't think there is any doubt Aaron Rodgers wins MVP regardless of Drew Brees breaking the yards record for passing, which he'll probably do late in the third quarter tonight, lol.

When comparing Rodgers' statistics to Brady's or Brees', people often seem to overlook the fact that Rodgers has already sat for at least three quarters this season. With that in mind, his statistics are nothing short of mind boggling.

1 Aaron Rodgers, QB GB ~ 45 TD's, 6 ints
2 Drew Brees, QB NO ~ 37 TD's, 11 ints
3 Tom Brady, QB NE ~ 36 TD's, 11 ints

Is the MVP announced before or after the playoffs are done?

If it's before, then maybe Brees should win. Rodgers will have an enormous chip on his shoulder which would just make "1 2 3 Dominate!" even more so. [grin1]

Of course if its after the playoffs, never mind. There's no contest. Rodgers all the way.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Brees
9 indoor games: 117.9, 257-353, 72.8, 2,931, 28-5
5 outdoor games: 95.7, 160-230, 69.6, 1,849, 9-6

Rodgers
3 indoor games: 126.2, 72-102, 70.6, 1,038, 7-0
11 outdoor games: 118.5, 250-371, 67.4, 3,322, 33-6

I believe the most telling statistic is Yards Per Attempt. Rodgers is averaging an insane 9.4 while Brees is at 8.0. It's not really a knock on Brees that he throws to his halfbacks a lot but it does account for a good amount of his yards. Basically, Rodgers throws the ball down field more.
