Micheal Rodney is speaking some heresy over at PU.

I tend to disagree with him. Woody's a great leader for the younger players. And I think jumping the ball to go for the INTs helped us this year. He may have gambled and lost plenty of times, but those turnovers are the only thing that got the defense off the field this year.

As for Tramon, he was hurt much of the year, and for Shields, he's gonna have an offseason in the system for the first time. Don't forget Davon House. But I'd still keep Woody.

At LEAST until we know whether Collins will be back.

Woodson should be made to restructure and then he plays slot corner and over the tight end, since we don't have a linebacker capable of defending a tight end. Wood does not have the speed anymore to run with the WRs.

That's exactly what I was going to say. I think it's the very fact the secondary was gambling so much that kept them from getting off the field. They were too arrogant to do the dirty work of tackling this year, preferring instead to shoot for the highlight-reel moment. Maybe they thought if they showed up enough times on SportsCenter, they would be due for pay raises.

His value is tough to judge. He's not worth 11 million a year, but it's hard to put a value on what he means off the field. We like to think Aaron Rodgers is the leader of this football team. He's not. Charles Woodson is the leader. Parting ways with him would devastate the team. I think a lot of guys look up to him and go to him if they're having problems.

I would certainly consider restructuring the deal. Maybe spread the bonus over the course of several seasons. Cutting him, however, would do more harm than good. Not to mention that he's the likely starting strong safety if Nick Collins doesn't return.

The secondary was exposed fully by an absolute lack of a pass rush. Have you forgotten how often opposing QBs had 4, 5, 6 seconds or more to deliver the ball? No secondary can withstand that amount of time. Woodson tackles like a beast when he can square up and deliver, but his aging legs no longer allow him the quick change of direction necessary to do so in the open field, one on one.

He still has a placve on this team for several more years to come.
