I'm mainly worried about what this does to Al Harris, Charles Woodson, Nick Collins, and Aaron Kampman. You know -- the guys who actually know how to play.

I liked the Packers being a team that has the best press coverage in the NFL. Now we might lose that.

Those players arn't gonna automatically suck because of a new DC.
Hopefully what it WILL do is get someone in here that will be able to set plays to the strengths of the players we have.

No way on earth we lose that.

Al Harris is useless besides playing press. He's 34, and not very good trade bait. He's also pretty good still considering his age, so they must get something out of Al. Playing Press is the way to do it.

Then you've got Woodson. Allowing him to play his style, which is a blend of cover 1 and cover 1 bump-n-run, allows him to be most effective. Woodson is a play maker, and putting him in something other than cover 1 will limit his abilities.

There is a reason Charles considered moving to safety for the Bucs when he was a free agent: he'd best utilize his talents that way in a Tampa-2.

MM is smart enough to know Charles should be kept at CB here, and allowed to play in a scheme that plays to his advantage. That's clearly Cover 1.

Fall guys for Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy, plain and simple. I relish the day both those guys are unemployed

Yes, it stinks of scapegoats in Green Bay. One of the perks of being head coach, I guess.

Who is to blame for our late game crap D. Bob Sanders. If we want a new DC, he's going to want his own staff. That's a possible tip of the scale on our side. Both of you are still holding grudge because Ted Thompson made the better decision for the future of this franchise (and I'm sure you know what that move is).

I knew "that" move was the right move for the franchise before the season even started. What I didn't know was just HOW right of a move it was.

Trying to improve does not = scapegoat, btw. The criticism wasn't so harsh that someone had to be a scapegoat anyway.

Plus...

Not only did McCarthy rail behind closed doors against the plethora of wide-open receivers, soft run defense, lack of physical play and a slew of fourth-quarter folds, he undoubtedly was aware of unrest among the defensive coaches that started early in the season.

According to one source, Sanders and Nunn stood united in support of the scheme whereas the other coaches to various degrees advocated change.

"Sanders and Nunn wanted to do it the Bates way, that it was tried and true," the source said. "But there was another camp within the staff headed by Moss that didn't like the scheme Sanders was using. There was a lot of bitching and griping.

"They caught themselves and didn't let it continue. But the job is hard enough. It's even harder if you have to get the assistants on the same page each week."

Or maybe they could just sign a vow that they won't bitch about the draft picks/moves/team record of any Packers team under a different GM/HC no matter how horrible it gets, since it's what they wanted.

Ye, That seems to be the biggest problem. All they do is bash, yet, they don't support there arguments.

You guys should make a thread why Ted Thompson and Mike are so horrible in a non-shouting way or so, so we can see why they should go.

Anyway, with that article it seems more and more like Moss will become the DC though. Question is, will that create alot of changes? I mean, Moss doesn't agree with Sanders' scheme, but won't they still have a quite smilair coaching method and to a certain extend scheme? As they worked together for a while now. I guess we'll see later on.

beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔

Mucky Tundra (6-Aug) : Travis Glover placed on IR; seasons over for him

dfosterf (5-Aug) : I'm going to call that a good move.
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Packers sign CB Corey Ballentine
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : I'm not sure how to kill the draft order just yet so it's not so confusing.
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : *to be able
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : and because it's not a dynasty league (which makes a lot more sense to be ability to trade picks)
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Oh I know; I was just exploring and it blew my mind that you could trade picks because of the whole reordering thing
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Zero, I think I preferred my offer: your 1st for my 15th rounder
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Keep in mind, we do a draft reorder once all members locked in
