Still, he's one year older this year -- and he didn't seem all that motivated going into last season, refusing to commit long-term to the Dolphins, hinting at retirement, etc. (gee, where have we heard that before?). He doesn't sound all that bothered by the fact he's likely to be cut. Do we really want to bring that lack of drive and motivation to Green Bay? Let the guy retire in peace and pursue the Hollywood career he craves.

Capers was the Dolphins' DC in '06 even though his title was special assistant to the head coach

Even though he wasn't the DC, perhaps Capers still called the Defense (ala Jim Bates last year, who was Assistant Head Coach under Shanahan)

I hear ya on all that

but say he is cut, whats the harm in bringing him in for a look

Dom will know RIGHT away if he still has it or not since he had him for 2 years

What are the salary-cap implications of cutting a veteran in the preseason if he doesn't pan out?

Couldn't tell ya bud, I only know what I read about that particular case and it states he was a Special Assistant, not a DC.

I read (and at this point I've forgotten where and can't be arsed to track it down) something about Jason giving Capers a good deal of credit for helping him learn and transition to the 3-4. Whether he was DC or not, if the question is whether he had something to do w/ Taylor's season in '06, Taylor says he did.

Please!!!!! Do not sign this guy. He is just gonna be another older KGB, an over-the-hill streaky pass rusher with knee problems who can not stop the run to save his life. I couldnt stand watching him every Sunday (well the ones he ACTUALLY played) and do nothing. Yet in the locker room, he would just make excuses and point fingers at people. His ego is huge.

I will be very upset if we waste money on this guy.

On a side note wasn't he saying before he got traded that he was looking at retirement and maybe play one or 2 years? He wanted to goto Hollywood if i remember correctly so will he still be interested in playing next year?
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Zero2Cool (1h) : Well, not crazy, it makes sense. Crazy I didn't notice/find it earlier

Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : *to be able
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : and because it's not a dynasty league (which makes a lot more sense to be ability to trade picks)
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Oh I know; I was just exploring and it blew my mind that you could trade picks because of the whole reordering thing
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Zero, I think I preferred my offer: your 1st for my 15th rounder

Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Oo just saw a blurb saying that Dallas negotiated directly with Parsons and not through his agent

Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Do the Commanders risk losing a top WR with an emerging QB just because he's turning 30 and potentially risk damaging the rebuild from
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Turns 30 this September, plays at a high level and Washington has some cap space I believe
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : More interesting is Washington with Terry McLaurin
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : I would imagine Dallas will resolve this issue with a truckload of money
