I'm replaying FFVII right now. My roommate bought it on his PS3 and had never played it so I thought I would maybe put some time in. Let's just say I've hogged the damn thing and put in 20 hours more than him lol. Awesome game.

Ok, so I did a little quick research on this.. So, you can buy FF7 online through the PS3's online thing, am I correct? Did they redo any part of it or just left it the way it was on PSOne?

Either way, that just inspired me even more to buy the PS3. My wife loves FFX, and I've always talked about as good as FFX was, FFVII was sooooo much better. She doesn't believe me because of the graphics. I'll have to prove it to her.

Yea my roommate bought it for $10 on his PS3. I personally own an Xbox 360. Console wars are bs to me though, different systems meet different peoples gaming styles but in the end they're all awesome.

FFX was awesome too though. I enjoyed FFIX as well but never got through FFVIII because my brother spilled on the 3rd disc.

FF8.. You aren't missing much. I heard it's horribad, and I couldn't stand it much, I didn't make it past the first 30 minutes of the game. I vaguely remember my friend playing FFIX.. I've been told that one's pretty good. I'll have to look into finding that when I get a PS3.

I enjoyed VIII, but like you said, that didn't last too long. Never made it far in that game.

The FF that I really dislike is XII. You have a great game which sells amazingly every single time. It's even good enough to lay the foundation for a MMORPG. Yet, for some reason, they go out and change the entire battle system into something that doesn't even look like a JRPG anymore.

Like I said in a previous post, try Lost odyssey. Amazing game, at least for the first 2 discs. And even that already justifies the buy.

And, any FF game past XI (you know, the MMORPG) I don't know a thing about. By the time FFXI came out, I stopped following anything on the consoles and went almost exclusively to PC gaming. I still have the original X-Box that I used for console gaming from when X-Box first was released (I sold my PS2/games for rent money many years ago).

It's Xbox 360 only, though. Going to be a decision between FF and LO in that case, I'm afraid.

That said, just take a look here . You'll see what I'm getting at soon enough.

FF VII top game of all time!

Anything by Bioware WINS.

I'm currently an iPhone junkie. Have found Zenonia and Dungeon Hunter to be pretty damn good RPG's for it. Now if they would just release an MTG app, I would be set.

I completely forgot about one RPG that I've been meaning to play for a long time - Paper Mario. I'm giving that a try tonight and if it seems like what I've been looking for I'll play through 'er. If not, I'll seriously consider giving FF7 a try (although my girlfriend, who forced me to play FF6/3 didn't really like it, so..). How quickly do you get a feel for FF7?

Wow, this thread. Actually found quite a few since I posted this one. All but one on steam. Check em out.

Last year or so:
Legend of Heroes - Trails in the Sky - Now one of my favorites. First part in a trilogy, english translation of second chapter comes out "this summer" (no official release date yet) and another game in the expanded universe this fall. Really excited.

Lords of Xulima - Different from most I've played. Fog of war indoors/outdoors (permanently visible once you've visited), doesn't really handhold you in the usual "Monsters/baddies you have access to will always be at a level where you can actually beat them" sense. Sometimes you need to bypass baddies until much later and find another route around. Not exceptional in any one way but all around rock solid.

Pillars of Eternity - Really well made, but it made me think of Oblivion and Skyrim which I burned out on. Obviously D&D inspired. Although after playing the game for 10-20 hours class balance issues become obvious. Even level 1 wizard spells do ridiculous AoE damage from low to high character levels, in almost all cases a party of wizards can destroy everything in front of it before anything melee has a chance to fight back.

Threw in Ys: The Oath in Felghana and Ys: Origin to boot. Nice change of pace for these two but not really my cup of tea. Worth a single playthrough though.

Wasteland 2 was really good although that's a turn based strategy RPG. What Fallout: Tactics should have been if it had good story in addition to good combat.

Space Rangers: HD was really good (although that's a 4X/RPG/RTS)

Played FF7 for about 30 minutes and lost interest. Will try again at some point. Maybe.

Previous years:
Romancing Sa-Ga (SNES) was alright.
Agarest:Generations of War - Ignoring the blatant "HEY LOOK ANIME CHICKS IN SKIMPY CLOTHING IN EVERY THIRD SCENE" barrage which got really old really quick, liked the story and combat system alright.

Child of Light - Worth a single playthrough, but wasted potential

Bastion - Alright. Worth a single playthrough. SuperGiant Games' have excellent soundtracks.

Dust: An Elysian Tail - Action-RPG. One of my top 5 or 10 games now.

Mucky Tundra (13-Aug) : beast, reading about what happened, it sounded like one of those "two guys collide and are moving slow afterwards" type of deals
beast (12-Aug) : I believe Musgrave has been injured every single season since at least a Sophomore in highschool
packerfanoutwest (12-Aug) : Matt LaFleur: “Highly unlikely” Jordan Love plays more this preseason
dfosterf (12-Aug) : Doubs, Savion Williams, LVN, Musgrave all banged up to one degree or another, missing one here I forget
Zero2Cool (12-Aug) : RB Tyrion Davis-Price is signing with the Green Bay Packers.
Zero2Cool (12-Aug) : zero help, dominated. preseason
beast (12-Aug) : QB Jordan Love has surgery

Zero2Cool (10-Aug) : Packers LT Jordan Morgan did not allow a single pressure across 23 pass-blocking snaps vs. Jets last night, per PFF
Mucky Tundra (10-Aug) : With buckeye and the reasonable couple, we're currently sitting at 10

Mucky Tundra (10-Aug) : Sooooooo many penalties
Mucky Tundra (10-Aug) : It may only be preseason, but this game is a trip to the dentist

TheKanataThrilla (9-Aug) : NFL Network is broadcasting the game tonight, but not in Canada. Not sure why as no local television is showing the game.
beast (8-Aug) : But the Return from IR designations had to be applied by the 53 man cutdown.
beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Apparently it is too complicated for several to follow your simple instructions, but I digress
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Zero- Did you see what I posted about Voice of Reason and his wife? She posted over at fleaflicker that they are both "In"
Zero2Cool (7-Aug) : Well, not crazy, it makes sense. Crazy I didn't notice/find it earlier
Zero2Cool (7-Aug) : it's crazy how one stored procedure to get data bogged everything down for speed here
dfosterf (7-Aug) : to herd cats or goldfish without a bowl. They reminded me of the annual assembly of our fantasy league
dfosterf (7-Aug) : out on a field trip, outfitting them with little yellow smocks. Most of the little folk were well behaved, but several were like trying
dfosterf (7-Aug) : Yesterday my wife and I spent the afternoon on the waterfront here in Alexandria, Va. A daycare company took about 15 three/four year olds
wpr (7-Aug) : seems faster. yay
dfosterf (7-Aug) : Wife of reason posted on the in/out thread on fleaflicker that both she and vor are in
