I never understood why the put a balloon over the Humpty dome that could not withstand snow. News flash- It is in Minney Sota dontcha know?

Because they built it on the cheap, even for 1980 standards. Drives me nuts when I hear someone say the Dome is good enough, blah blah blah.

They can't tear down that stadium fast enough for me. Maybe they will build a new mall there.
The interesting storyline now is how much money will they put into repairs. The Vikings want a new building or to leave town. They shouldn't put a lot of money into it if it is to be torn down.

I thought Detroit was foolish for building a dome recently. I hope Minnesota puts a stadium up where men can play men, not sissies under a roof.

I know. It was shear stupidity. The roof has fallen 4 or 5 times now. So much for cheap being right. Stupid Demarcates.

The pathetic part IMO.. is that they didn't combine the tax dollars/financial efforts with the U of M.. build one football stadium for both to share.

If the owner doesn't want to pony up the brunt of the costs, ala Jerry "Kiss my ass" Jones, and monopolize the profits from it, then from an economic standpoint build one stadium to fulfill the needs for both entities.. with separate training/practice facilities.

Just out of curiosity, did anyone notice that TCF stadium only has two (somewhat smallish) banks of big lights on one single side?

The lights on the other side are skimpy, kind of built in to the rim.

It wasn't really designed for night games, as best I can tell.

I think Monday Night Football in December, in Minnesota...

It might be dark outside.

It's from the movie Der Untergang (The Downfall), depicting Hitler's last days in a Berlin bunker. You may be able to stream it online from Netflix. If not, you can get the DVD from there.

Very good movie, if you ask me. Very much worth a rent.

Anyway, that stadium is absolutely horrible. And that's not a Packer fan insulting a Vikes fan. I hope one of their plans gets through soon, because if I were Zigi, I'd move the team, as well, if they don't.

No, no, no, no and no.

I'm glad they opted not to go that route. As a Gopher and a Viking fan, putting them both in the same place was a horrible idea. Especially for the college gameday feel when it comes down to the Gophs. I've heard many college fans complain about the atmosphere of NFL venues that their teams' share with (U of Pittsburg, U of Miami, etc). And I don't blame them. The Gophers spend 25+ years in the Vikings shadow, away from campus, and it KILLED their experience so much that even during their best years recently (2003ish), they couldn't sell out.

No thanks.
