^ See that kind of raises my point for me: the source from wikipedia is a NY Times article, which only states he was a Vikings fan - "was" being the key word, as in past tense.

From what I have read the past few years, he is pretty adamant that he is no longer the fan of 1 particular team.

People claim he is a well known Vikings fan - implying he still is a fan. I was just curious if I missed something where he came out and stated he still supports the Vikings.

Ah, I posted my post too late. Thanks wils, I had not read that before and did not want to make the unfair assumption that once a fan, always a fan.

This kind of shit makes me sick. Some asshole trying to build himself up by writing this crap about Rodgers and tearing his name down. Honestly it makes me sick.

Could you, knowing how much of a Packers fan I am, believe that I'd be unbias in my random NFL articles that I wrote about on a daily basis on a site called pro football talk?

It was a career thing for him to silence his fanhood, for obvious reasons.

No I could not, but only because I would have nothing to suggest that you are no longer an avid Packer fan.

But with Florio, I had nothing to suggest he still maintained even some semblance of an interest / passion for the Vikings. I did not want to assume that because he was once a fan, he would forever feel some passion to a team. He may, or he may not - I would rather not jump to conclusions based on things I cannot be sure about.

Wils clearly shows that it is the former (he retains some passion / loyalty). Up until a few moments ago, I had not read anything usggesting he still had some fondness for the Vikings.

C'mon, how can you go from being a fan of a NFL team, then your job is to cover all NFL teams and in doing so you lose your fanship of said team?

I don't buy that at all. Guess I see too many writers and players whom are fans of teams they are not covering or playing for to buy into that.

Well, my link says "was" also.

I don't like shooting the messenger, but when he makes such an assertion that Rodgers is an asshole from 10 seconds of video, it pisses me off.

He's pretty buddy-buddy here with Paul Allen at KFAN here in Minneapolis, MN and it seems like he still enjoys watching and rooting for his squad.

Check out this podcast and listen about 36:40-40:00 (3/4 down the bar) here:

He basically states he still holds a grudge against Atlanta for beating his Vikings in 1998 and jokingly says he wants both team to lose.

Florio + Seifert = crappy, viking loving, writers who bend backwards for drama

they'll report this and call Rodgers an A-hole, but leave out all the good things he does.

my beef is that alot of people will read that and believe that he is what Florio makes him out to be.

Florio bugs the piss out me and I can't stand the crap he writes. His Vikings fandom takes over during the season and some small video and article like this can tarnish a player. Strictly written to ruin a good moment for a great player and person.

I think my views are biased because of what - or rather whom I know.

Said person was a fan of a pro-sport team since growing up, and flat out stated that covering the team as a grown up made him lose all interest / passion he once had. He said having access to the inner workings of the team and realizing so much of the BS and nonsensical stuff that goes on (both amongst players and those higher in the ranks) makes you fall out of love pretty quick. He actually went as far as to say that any team he did root for, he wanted no part ever in covering.

So I'm wary of people assuming once a fan, you always retain some love. Which is what many people were assuming, and it felt like the other members knew something I did not. Hence why I asked you for a source, because I wanted to know if I had missed something.
