Maybe I'm too old-fashioned but right or wrong, the salesman got what he deserved. Who in their right mind actively defies direct orders from one's boss within weeks of getting a new job in an economy like this? If it's that unreasonable, leave. This isn't a fast food restaurant where pissing off a single customer results in a buck or two of profit lost, car sales is big money.

I also don't buy the fired employees' story that he was simply wearing the tie to honor his grandmother. If that was the case, why did he only decide to wear it that one day? That might have been part of the reason, but I'd like to see ONE person here say that they wouldn't be tempted to antagonize a bears fan after Sunday's game. The fact of the matter is, the business owner thought he was bad for business. He gave him multiple opportunities to remove the tie and keep his job.

I don't get it.

This should be a time that the ACLU can actually come to good use.

Who else has the feeling that this car dealer might just belong to Jay Cutler?

The dealership had a promotion throwing out small footballs with Bears logos to kids who came by with their parents.

It didn't work.

I couldn't agree more with Wade and Porforis. I think the dealership would win, and moreover, it should win.

All these people whining about how it's not fair are putting their team loyalty above the law. They're probably the same people who were saying that Ben Roethlisberger should be punished as a rapist even though the evidence clearly exonerated him. The fact that there are so many people with such lawless, reactionary views in a culture that supposedly prides itself on the rule of law is pretty scary.

What law? The law that says you can't wear apparel of a team different from the city your live in? LMAO...you guys that are siding with the GM are REALLY reaching here.

Fact is, the GM is a sore loser and ABUSED his power as the GM. Yeah, the dude could have taken his tie off but why? The article clearly states he has worn it before and on that day not a single customer was upset by the tie. Just this little bitch GM.

to clarify: I wasn't saying I sided with the employer. I merely argued that the law would.

I think we've found another dumb shit thread.

Anyway, a salesman in the Chicago area that would wear a GBP tie to work is a dumbass; and should be fired for being stupid, incompetent, and insensitive to the feelings of his probably Bear fan customers that just witnessed their beloved team lose the game of the ages in the rivalry.

I'll chip in for Wade's prosititute.
