National sales tax is for simpletons who don't know shit about anything. This does not include, which is why I'm confused as to why you would be for it.

No, tax reform needs to start with punishing Corporation who take their operations overseas, closing all loopholes, and rewarding American corporations who stuck it out through the tough times.

Then you take the guillotine to all the Wall Street thieves, gut them and the filthy rich who have done nothing but looted and stole for centuries. Take all that money and start over.

I know I'm a radical asshole, but I'm so sick of how it is now, that I can't stand it. The young generation coming up now, hopefully will make those hippies look like a bunch of nothing.

Back on topic - I could care less about gay marriage - legalize it along with hooch.

Well....here we go......if you believe the Bible is the word of God, then you should be against gay sex.
And yes, it is a choice. You can choose NOT to have sex with someone of the same sex as you.
Just as someone that has sexual feelings towards children, or barn animals. You can act on the impulses, or not.
If a woman has a "choice" whether or not to kill or not kill her unborn child, you think a person can't make a choice as far as acting on their sexual impulses?
Like most everything in our lives, we make choices.

By the way, i don't hate gay people. I hate their sin.

Just like, alas, my heterosexual lusting after Jessica Biel is sinful. Homosexuality that puts the homosexual relationship "above God" is sinful. Homosexuality that places more emphasis on loving the human lover than on loving God is sinful.

2. But even to the extent that what they do is "sinful", it's not my place or yours to hate their sin. That's God's job, and God's job alone.

I have too much sin of my own to hate. If I spend time hating someone else's, then I'm not going to be hating mine enough. If I'm spending time judging the choices of others -- whether I'm judging the others directly, or just their choices -- then I'm doing something other than putting Him first in my life. I'm saying to Him that I don't trust Him with the salvation of others. I'm saying to Him that I don't really have to strive with all my heart and all my mind and all my soul to love Him, that I've got time to do this judging and hating thing, too.

Which, of course, is blasphemy.

My job, and yours, is to believe in Him. Not to return to the world before Christ and emphasize this or that part of the Law. Without the Gospel, we're damned regardless of what sexual practices we do or do not follow; with faith in the Gospel made man, died, and resurrected, we're cleansed of all sexual sins.

Key words, of course, are "with faith." We have to believe, in our hearts, that what we are striving toward first and foremost and always is loving as He would have us love. But if I do that, the fact that I get this or that "rule" wrong or not isn't going to matter one whit to God. As long as I'm trying to satisfy Him, my sins are forgiven.

That's the problem with a lot of homosexuals. (And, ahem, a lot of non-homosexuals.) They aren't really trying to please Him. They're focusing only on what pleases them.

The gay dude who says "I don't care what God says" is damned. So is the hetero guy who says "I can do whatever I want because God has forgiven all my sins."

But deciding that damnation, that's still God's job. I don't have what it takes to do that kind of judging. Even for myself, much less for someone else.

Lucky for me, lucky for all of us, there is no scorecard or grade book any more. Or, rather, there's only one test on which we are going to be graded, and its strictly pass/fail grading: "Do you believe and strive to please Him above all?" If you do, you're in regardless of how and where you fall short in practice. If you don't, you can obey all the Old Testament rules of sex and diet and all the rest, and you're still toast.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

All your doing is thinking with your own interests. The goverenment gives child credits to help parents in the difficult years. Think of it as investing in future taxpayers if your brain can't comprehend the concept.

The National Sales Tax concepts puts more burden on poor people, again you are selfishly only thinking of yourself. Consumption taxes are all regressive taxes.

What else do you have there, Deep Thoughts Zombie?

Did I get the benefits that go along with the choice to have children -- e.g., the sex with the child's parents? the chores the kids did around the house, the people to bitch at when I needed someone handy? No. I got none of those things. Nor do I deserve any of them.

Any more than I 'deserve' to pay for your child credits.

Damn straight I'm thinking of myself. If you want me to think of someone else, then make it worth my while enough that I'm willing to do so. Otherwise keep your effing hands off me and my ill- and not-so-ill-gotten wealth.

This is why I refuse to debate whether a sales tax is regressive or not. That's a second-order question, one that only comes up *after* the important question, and the one I refuse to concede, the question about whether involuntary appropriation of wealth (i.e. taxation) is justified.

And until someone answers *that* question to my satisfaction, my answer to the proponents of new national sales taxes, state sales taxes, or any income tax of any kind by anyone, is the same.

KYFHO.

What if what the gay dude says, is different than what the gay dude feels? Perhaps he's saying that for different reasons and hiding his real beliefs?

As long as I don't consciously try to hide the bad bits with God or otherwise try, by hiding or declaring, to negotiate "extra" from God, I'm convinced he's good with my falling short. Heck, he foregave Peter three outright denials.

The only thing that matters re: the gay guy is how he acts toward God.

As for the personal question, actually, I'm not quite sure what I was put on earth for. And, to be honest, there has been more than a few times when I've wished God was more clear about the answer.

And, alas, far more times when I've shirked my responsibilities.

And "those who suffer"....they don't deserve my wealth any more than you do.

Of course, there's always the question of whether *I* deserve it any more, either.

beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔

Zero2Cool (6-Aug) : I thought that was the Lions OL
Mucky Tundra (6-Aug) : Travis Glover placed on IR; seasons over for him
Zero2Cool (6-Aug) : found bad sql in database, maybe site faster now?
dfosterf (5-Aug) : I'm going to call that a good move.
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Packers sign CB Corey Ballentine
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : I'm not sure how to kill the draft order just yet so it's not so confusing.
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : *to be able
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : and because it's not a dynasty league (which makes a lot more sense to be ability to trade picks)
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Oh I know; I was just exploring and it blew my mind that you could trade picks because of the whole reordering thing
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Zero, I think I preferred my offer: your 1st for my 15th rounder
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Keep in mind, we do a draft reorder once all members locked in
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : You can have my 12th Rd for your 2nd round
