It took six years, but Jim Taylor never wavered on his road to recovery. The Green Bay Packers' Hall of Fame fullback and tireless fitness fanatic suffered a stroke in 2004, the first serious setback of his life.

Taylor was a very under rated running back. He was always close to Jim Brown in rushing yards and he had to share the ball with Hornung. He caught the ball well also, and blocked, which Brown refused to do. Living in Ohio, I got nauseated hearing about how great Jim Brown was. Look at old clips. He was good, but look at his offensive line. Maybe one of the best in the history of the NFL. He had monstrous holes to run thru. After he retired, Leroy Kelly picked up right where Brown left off. Any back would look like a world beater behind that OL.

Too young to have seen him play, but what I've heard about Taylor is that he'd break into the open field and actually LOOK for people to run over. LOL. He wasn't necessarily running to daylight.

Nerdmann, Yes, he was as tough and hard nosed as they come. I would compare him being in Jim Brown's shadow to Sterling Sharpe being in Jerry Rice's shadow. Both never got the recognition they should have.
