Poll Question: Do you believe you've ever watched a fixed sporting event?

Remember in the 2014 NFCCG when Peppers told Burnett to get down?

Seemed like they wanted to win, but not beat the spread or something. Just seemed weird to me. Never saw a team so terrified they might score. And recall, that was an unusually low scoring game for us.

This is still really freaking sad...

Things didn't go your way so you're pushing conspiracy theories...
That's such a stupidly blinded homer move!

The team freaking put together a decent game for once this season without Rodgers... did better than any of us thought they would (other than maybe Nerd) and instead of giving some due credit, you suggestively blame Vegas for possible interference...

Congrats to Nerd for correctly predicting a bounce back game from Hundley, that was clearly the best we've seen him. As for conspiracy theories, hell maybe Nerd was the one that was paying the Steelers off, why aren't we accusing him? Nerd paid off the Steelers defense to look smart! You heard it here first!

Why is it sad? It just is. I didn't go looking for that tweet. I happened to come across it and found it interesting especially in light of the relative easy nature in which we scored our points in the first 3 quarters.

Wrestling is fixed. There are plenty who think it's legit. It's not something Vegas takes bets on. Why would this subject be bad, sad or negative? It's fair given the fact this team was donuted at home by Baltimore and then hung on the road with Pittsburgh on a 13.5 spread? That's a bigger than the Browns spread. Why was the spread so high? Buck even offered gambling advice most likely based off his experience gambling. I'd bet he even agrees games are fixed sometimes. His rebuttal talked all around the central issue.

Again, nobody wants to believe sports are ever fixed. With so much riding on the outcomes you would be naive to believe it never happens. I fear I don't realize how common it is. Not fun to think much of my enjoyment from sports may have been rigged leaving memories tarnished but I will never shut my brain off and dismiss that possibility.

It's sad that your looking for excuses of why the Packers did better than expect... just like Vikings fans

You can't stand Packers success (at least not under the current people)... so you're using any and every excuse, even conspiracy theories now to undermine any possible success... it's pathetic!

WWE isn't in same class as NFL. I can't believe I have to say that.

I did NOT even think about it being fixed until I saw that tweet. Never entered my mind or I would've brought it up in chat. I did bring up the gifts we received from Steelers D to Z's chagrin.

Saw the tweet and thought back on what I witnessed and couldn't in good conscience dismiss the possibility so I posted what I felt was an interesting nugget.

He has spent so much time and effort pushing HIS 4 YEAR AGENDA that The Packers organization, as a whole , needs to be blown up.

For quite some years, I've believed certain sporting events are fixed. Greed and corruption rule the human heart. Knowing which games are fixed is always a challenge but anyone who has ever watched ESPNs BAD BEATS segment with Scott Van Pelt has to know this happens.

We saved Vegas...

The Packers made some good plays on offense and did some things that confused the Steelers defense. We should be familiar with this because offenses to do it our defense all the time! haha. (I cried when I laughed there, cuz its true).

NFL is the ultimate TEAM sport. Officials can change the outcome (e.g. Fail Mary game) with a single call, or a plethora of calls, but these are so over analyzed that everyone would have a red flag. There are also something like 6 or 7 officials on the field.

Sports like Baseball or Basketball that have less players, less officials and more gray area plays (e.g. strike zone, tightly spined ball, corked bat) with fewer officials that have a greater impact. Those type of sports can be affected much more than NFL games.

The Packers weren't in the game vs Steelers because of Vegas or whatever conspiracy. They played a damn good game and didn't make many mental mistakes. If that team were to show up every week and play at least 45 minutes throughout the 60 minutes, we'd have a real damn chance to be Super Bowl contenders.

Z...I'm happy to read you believe some events are fixed. A virtual certainty.

What I don't understand is your dogmatic assertion this game couldn't possibly be one of them. ALL games deserve scrutiny when fully considering this issue. I would say this one moves to the top of the list of most likely candidates based on the tweet and the miraculous difference from Baltimore to Pittsburgh. Not saying game was fixed just that this one is highly suspicious and it wouldn't be any surprise to one day learn the outcome was manipulated in some fashion.

As a fan of the team it makes it hard to go there but that's when you really have to take the team's name out of this and look at tweet, last week and week before and look at it like a judge carefully considering the evidence. There's precedent and circumstantial evidence.
