I suppose. I guess I just don't think of Ahman Green as a legend. My main memories of him are of wondering when he was going to fumble the ball. Then again, this was during the period when I was limited to listening to the games on the radio, so I didn't get to see much of him on the field. I have far more memories of Dorsey Levins than I do of Ahman Gren.

I still don't think I'd give him the number. He chose to leave the Packers for greener pastures and has done essentially nothing since. And like I said, he's coming in as the #3 halfback, not the featured horse.

But I'm an iconoclast, so I'm sure that colors things too.

Of course we're not going to find our ticket to the superbowl lying on the couch in October, but Ahman has been borderline awful since hitting about 29 Y.O. where guys such as Arrington or Rhodes showed some glimmer of life recently.

With his former number, 30, taken by fullback John Kuhn, Green is wearing No. 34 in honor of one of his heroes, former Chicago Bears running back Walter Payton. It's the number Green wore in high school before changing to No. 30 in college at Nebraska, through no control of his own.
