Our Kicking game is a problem.

You are missing the point. We gave up Longwell, because he couldn't kick deep when cold. Crosby is not as accurate as Longwell. Now Crosby cannot kick it deep either. (not to mention it isn't cold yet). But you all want to settle for Crosby.

In my book, we went from a great FG kicker to a lesser Kicker because we wanted to get better field position. Well, we are not getting that. But lets just keep the status quo. Yes there are other problems. And those have been picked apart mostly.

Our Kicking game is a problem. Crosby has never been above 80% on FG. Longwell was 80 or above in 7 of 9 years.

You're missing the point! Longwell wanted OUT of Green Bay! He wanted to kick his final years in a better climate aka DOME. We didn't let him go. HE chose to GO.

This Crosby can't kick it deep over one game is absurd. That's like saying the Packers didn't throw it short because Rodgers can't throw a short pass.

There's a thing called ... game plan. And our game plan sucked.

You can mistakenly pin it on Crosby all you want, but know this. You're wrong.

Kicking off and passing are apples and oranges. You don't kick short to setup a long kick. You don't kick deep to setup short. And it isn't 1 game. All but 1 of the kickoffs against the Browns was short of the goal line, and Cribbs is no slouch in returns. I believe that we are kicking short, because something has happened and Crosby cannot get it deep. If he could consistently put the ball in the endzone, they wouldn't be trying the short crap.

If he cannot go deep and get us field position, we are better off with somebody who is more accurate.

lol what are goign to do to prove this? Show some more stats on Crosby being 23rd in the league in FG percentage where more than a dozen of those kickers haven't kicked any FG's over 50 yards? 🙂

Here's a fact. If you think 13 out of 14 is a problem, you're wrong.
Here's a fact. One of four 50+ is not good. That should be at least 50%.
Here's a fact. Crosby, 49 or less, 13 of 14 = 93%. Crosby 50 or more, 1 of 4, 25%.
Here's a fact. Comparing Crosby to kickers who haven't even attempted a 50+ FG is unjustifiable in stating that's why he's a problem.
Here's a fact. 5 touchbacks in 7 games is not good. The most in the league is 17.
Here's a fact. Crosby can do better but is not as big of a problem as some WANT to believe.

"All but 1 of the kickoffs against the Browns was short of the goal line"

Crosby had 2 touchbacks against cleveland and another that Cribbs returned out of the endzone.

You're right. IF he can't kick it deep, there's an issue. However, he's shown he can kick it deep and he has been kicking it deep.

If you ever played any sport you'd understand that you do as you are coached to do.

Again. 13 of 14 when kicking 49 and less is not bad at all.

You obviously have it out for Crosby as does IronMan. Neither of you are objective with your analysis and I'm done with you both on this. This team has several areas of fault. The kicking game is one of the least concerns. So, continue to hammer away with your over reacting and have fun with that.

I am not fond of Crosby. Reason being is his accuracy. I understand giving up some for field position.

I am not mad at Crosby for kicking short, I am mad because the coaches believed they needed to kick short. And I believe they decided that because they don't have faith in Crosby's ability to consistently put the ball into the middle of the endzone to get the touchback or to the point where returners, spend that split second deciding should I or shouldn't I.

LOL Crosby has been near the bottom of the league the last year and a half in FG accuracy, and consistantly misses clutch kicks, but I "have it out for him"

The main reason why he's near the bottom in FG accuracy is because Mike McCarthy has such an elevated opinion of his deep-kick ability that he tries an absurd number of kicks from beyond the 50. He's had him kicking as long as 58 yards in the past two seasons. How many coaches put their kickers through that? I wouldn't be surprised if Crosby is near the top in attempts from beyond 50.

Crosby's statistics are severely skewed by McCarthy's coaching decisions.

I really get a charge out of all of us, (including me) who are quick to point out all the bad points of a player, team, coaches, etc. without ever having played the game...at least on a higher level. Slamming kickers hits a sore spot with me...even though sometimes they may deserve it. I was a punter in college and holder for the placekickers. Real easy to get blamed for everything from a shanked punt to the state of the economy. (Jeez Bob, if you hadn't shanked that punt, the fans would have bought more beer to celebrate and the University would have more money to get us decent uniforms.)

Tiger Woods doesn't hammer his drives 350 yards each time....he tries to place them for the next shot. A batter can have a perfect swing, but if his eye-hand coordination is off by less than 1/4 inch.....pop-up instead of homerun. Same with a kicker/punter. Add in the wind and temperature (ever kicked a football in 0 degree weather?....liking punting a cement block) and all sorts of things can happen......most of the time not good.

I agree...good kickers shouldn't miss the chip shots, but it happens. It's easy in practice, but then put in a defense where you have one guy on the end who's telling you how bad you are.....how good your girlfriend is in bed,....and other nice things and it doesn't seem so easy then. And this guy's just talking to the holder, like me. The guy on the other end has the kicker!

Mason Crosby is not a liability. Our OL and penalties are.

+1... Crosby in the overall scheme of things, played a decent game.

beast (23h) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
