Neither would I.. especially for a playoff run.. if we get there. ;)

He has gotten a good look at the Saints offense in practice.

Jarrett Bush definitely sucked less in this game. I still cant get over the fact he had ANOTHER false start on ST. I was at the Bengals game when he had 2 false starts on ST, and I wanted to punch him in the face. Not the sharpest tool on the shed.

How do you get a false start on Special Teams not being part of the OL??? Twicthing forward before the snap or something?

Yeah, same way a WR can get a false start on offense.

I guess that's how he always ends up 10 yards further downfield on coverage than anyone else, which is a HUGE part of why he's still on the team. He must cheat a little at the snap. If you think our coverage teams suck now, they'd be a whole lot worse without SOMEONE disrupting the returner right when he gets the ball. No one else even comes close to Bush on kick/punt coverage. Derrick Martin is probably #2.

What I don't get- Why is it that some people, in this forum and every other one, are so convinced that Bush had a bad game on defense? I don't get it. He just plain didn't. Not by any stretch. Did these people watch the game? He has earned his status as whipping boy, but not this week. He played very well on defense this week.

I liked how Bush was used against the Bears. He played a lot near the line of scrimmage and he covered the tight end a lot. He did a decent job against one of the better tight ends in the league.

This could be a niche for him. They need to avoid letting receivers get him isolated in space, because Bush is going to lose too many of those battles. But if he's scrapping at the line of scrimmage and against TE's, the Packers may be able to get by with him. Dom Capers just might be able to make this thing work, although I admit that I will be shaking in my boots when we go up against teams that have three or more really good receivers.

I started this thread because I was listening to Bears radio and they commented how the Bears were picking on Bush. Just an interesting comment from people who do not wear Green and Gold glasses. I find it weird how strongly people are defending him. I went back and watched some tape and it appeared that Bush had safet over the top help a lot and was still giving up yards. I get that with injuries he's the best #3 CB we got......I am just worried about teams like the saints.

Very nice post, indeed.

Only thing I can think of is that you usually go to a nickel to account for that extra receiver. If you face the Bears or 49ers, your 3rd corner can indeed play an athletic TE.

But what do we do against, for instance, the Cardinals? They come out with 3-4 receivers sets as much as any team in the league. Breaston will be in as the 3rd receiver more often than not.

We'll need to have a man on him, if we're not playing zone, of course, and that man will most likely be Bush.

You can keep him protected and playing like this against the Bears, 49ers and Ravens, but this won't work against pass happy teams.

With the Cardinals, Eagles, Saints and Vikings storming into the play-offs, he'll better work on his ball skills. Like they appeared to have been doing this week. He showed some improvement. Especially in zone, it seemed.
