As we can see, Aaron Rodgers is in pretty rarified air, as one of only four quarterbacks (that I can find) in the history of the NFL who averaged over 2.0 touchdowns per game in their first 30 starts. I don't think it's a coincidence that the top two names on this list played in Florida and a dome, respectively, and neither was sacked as much as Rodgers, which only makes his accomplishment all the more remarkable.

Charlie Conerly's story may be the most amazing of all, however. With only 4 starts in his 12-game rookie season (1948), he threw 22 touchdown passes, still second only to Peyton Manning (who threw 26 TDs in 16 starts) on the all-time list for rookies!

I know this is very premature, but one has to wonder how much it'll hurt Rodgers that he sat on the bench for 3 years, if he does go on like this and has a HoF career.

I think if anything it helped. He got to learn how to play qb before being thrust into the spotlight like most young qb's. Kind of like going to school before getting a job in the field. Yes, it can be done but it prepares you for it. In 2 years, I think Rodgers will be viewed as the best or at least top 3 qb's in the league up there with an aging manning, brady & brees.

I think Rock is trying to say that it will hurt him stat wise. He missed 3 seasons, so obviously he missed out on 3 seasons worth of stats.

That was indeed my point. I know that he's benefited from sitting his first couple of years. I personally think that his first year would've looked a lot like Peyton's, otherwise. It might've even killed his career, you never know.

That said, he'll never get Peyton or Brett-like numbers on his career. Steve Young finished with the highest career passer rating and won a SB. Rodgers will need to compensate his lack of stats somewhere, as well. He's on his way right now, but he's going to need some SBs or records, I think.

I think Rodgers is compensating very nicely for having sat so long. Through his first 30 games, he has 14 more touchdowns than Favre did and 10 more than Manning did. Not to mention Rodgers has almost 1300 more passing yards than Favre did and about 600 more than Manning did.

But you're right. Rodgers' legacy will be set in the postseason.

look at Elways statistics. For a 16 year career, he's at less than 20 td's and around 14 interceptions, 57% completions and under 80 qb rating. But he's considered as the best by many for other reasons. Stats arent everything unless fantasy football is all you care about. Plus, at 26 years of age, Rodgers has had 2 pro bowl caliber seasons. I dont know how many others can say the same but probably not many.

QB this day and age can play for a long time. I mean ARod is still really young and is just hitting his stride.

Rodgers has got to know this offense really fast, I am still amazed at that. Usually it takes a QB their 3rd season to get to know the Playbook fairly well. This guy got the IQ of football then again he went to CAL, so.... that's pretty good.
