You bet it applies to others on the roster.. no doubt.

But name another player on the roster past maybe Blackmon that should have more motivation in this camp from missing time due to injury?

Anyone that shows up to camp after being declared healthy in the spring better be in damn shape.. that is part of their contract, you know that pesky little "workout" and "Roster" bonus.

Heck with the Favre-O-Matic... someone develop that new and improved Harrell-O-excuse. ;)

I kid.. I kid.. He will get his chance yet this preseason.. he is 300 pounds and as strong as an ox.. they don't grow on trees.. but it sure is disappointing that he is being given a free pass by many a fan for not showing up to camp ready to go with maximum effort.

Charles Woodson isn't known for standing out in practice. Some players just don't get intense for practice.

Look, I'm not offering excuses for Harrell, but I think it's absurd to cut him right now because he's not showing the effort in practice. I don't think NFL players need messages sent to them in that way. Would releasing Harrell be a shock to you or I? No, I don't think anyone would be shocked, including the players. For me, releasing Johnny Jolly would send a bigger and more meaningful message.

None the less, Harrell's job it to take up space. He's not going to be their nickel pass rusher like a Mike Neal. If he uses his strength to gain leverage in the run game, he'll do his job. It's not flashy, but that's his task. As long as he does that, I'm alright with him taking a knee after a rep. If he doesn't do that, that's when you pull the trigger.

lol Harrell is the fat kid on the playground that is easy to pick on ... that's what I'm getting from reading the comments.

Hey, Packers are thought to be lethal this year ... gotta bitch bout something ... JUSTIN!!!

All being a dick aside, I would like to see effort out of the players. I don't know that Harrell isn't putting forth the effort because ... I'm not there and I have a hard time trusting McGinn after his Brett's cell phone lie and failure to own it after everyone, including the Packers said he didn't have one. 🙂

LOL.. Bitching just to bitch eh.. not..

Woodson has earned some practice time collateral via his play upon the field.. Justin has none. Thinking NFL players don't need a kick in the ass or a reminder every now and then.. think back to the first season Charles was here and not participating.. he got called out on it.

It is hardly picking on Harrell or bitching just to bitch.. it is a player that has admitted he owes the Packers due to his lack of performance... showing up to camp and per a number of different spectators is lacking effort. It is not a Woodson, a Favre, a player that has proven himself as an NFL player.. no it is a damn near washout acting like he gives two shits less if some would kill for the shot. Piss on that attitude.. it has not freaking place in training camp.. and I would be willing to wager most players feel the same damn way. Real players with freaking heart for the game.

If you are happy with that and deem it acceptable.. great.. I on the other hand am not.

McGinn..
Vandermuse
CheeseheadTV's Nagler..

But hey... they all can't be seeing the same damn thing.. lol. It is the conspiracy of 2010 to pick on Justin. ;)

I have said it a number of times... I personally expected a fired up Harrell that was ready to roll.. not one that by reports (yes not first hand information) isn't putting it forth for a player that needs it..

That speaks of a player of the caliber not wanted on a championship team.. nothing more.. nothing less. Picking on the fat kid my ass. 😉

You'd think that Harrell came into camp looking like Gilbert Brown or Grady Jackson with how quick people are to call him a lazy fat ass.

Give me one shade of evidence to the contrary during his time here? Where has he earned that label of being the hardest working dude on the team?

Big difference in Brown, Grady and Harrell.. two of them gamed up on Sundays.. Harrell has yet to prove it.. healthy or not.

But hey.. I can play that card too.. with all the Harrell defense you would think the kid is a budding all pro already.. 😉

If we're going to pick on Justin for not spitting fire during practice, we should not be selective, let's jump everyone's case. Justin is targeted because of his history, that's obvious. Eyes are on him, but go to a practice, he's not the only who isn't tickled pink to be in training camp. I mean, you remember camp, right? Fun? Right. No.

Younger guys enjoy it and typically are more excitable during training camp. Guys who've been through it two or three times or more have less intensity.

Again, I'll say this again. It's training camp. If he plays daisy duke sissy during practice but gives us five solid plays a game, I'm fine with that.

What happens when a player is killing it in training camp? We say it doesn't matter, its training camp, who cares.

Yet, when a player is supposedly dogging it in training camp, we slam the hell out of him?

Hypocritical much?

Game time, that's what I'm wanting to see. If Harrell is sluffing it even during pre-season games, then we have a cause for griping. Until then, we're just being hypocrites and petty. I said WE, so don't no one get sand in their vagina.

Most guys that have been to multiple camps have done something upon the field correct? Is that not a true statement?

Young guys that haven't proven shit go all out because they are trying to make their mark upon the team.. validate a reason for keeping their ass or giving them playing time. They should be hungry or they probably aren't going to stick.

Which category fits Harrell?

beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔

dfosterf (5-Aug) : I'm going to call that a good move.
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Packers sign CB Corey Ballentine
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : I'm not sure how to kill the draft order just yet so it's not so confusing.
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : *to be able
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : and because it's not a dynasty league (which makes a lot more sense to be ability to trade picks)
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Oh I know; I was just exploring and it blew my mind that you could trade picks because of the whole reordering thing
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Zero, I think I preferred my offer: your 1st for my 15th rounder
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Keep in mind, we do a draft reorder once all members locked in
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : You can have my 12th Rd for your 2nd round
