Honestly it took a while for Clay to get back into the zone from the OLB position. I saw him look a bit aimless for a while and then tightened down on that last KC drive. The communication breakdowns with the younger players happened all game. They were just more noticeable later on.

The bright side: Our tackling as an overall defensive unit is steadily improving. I think we can all agree that this is a major positive for the team.

Thomas took his lumps at ILB in the 2nd half; A good learning experience for him. I have measured hopes for that guy. He definitely seemed overcome with emotion in his post-game interview. You can see how much the opportunity meant to him.

Sigh, not surprised this topic was started. I am too young to be pissing and moaning about "style" points with victories. Going to go continue enjoying the fact that the Packers are 3-0 instead of 1-2 to start the season. Go Pack Go.

Totally. Honestly, and I know no fan wants to hear this, but with that lead, I think they were doing some evaluating on defense. There were quality reps there for a couple guys. In the NFL, it is trial by fire.

How well can you expect your second and third stringers to be the next man up if needed if they don't get experience in real games when the opportunity presents itself. That and the more stuff you do in this game the more the next teams have to look for.

I think it easy to try too hard in NFL. On D, you can blitz too much rather then playing a conservative vanilla D or over-commit on run plays leaving gaps in the D.

I think we are in agreement on the game though :)

You want to know what would happen to a defense that played plain vanilla and didn't have great personnel? Just look at the Packers situation over most of the several decades prior to Capers. With a few exceptions, it wasn't a pretty sight; And those exceptions were generally the few years when we did have better personnel - when Reggie White was here for example.

The defense wasn't the problem. The offensive lack of executing and settling for FG after FG is what hurt the Packers along with failing to muster out a couple first downs in the 4th quarter drives.

Offense lost the game, not the Defense. Special Teams had a chance to WIN the game, but they didn't lose the game.

Exactly. It was a total team loss. You can tell Aaron worked really hard this offseason and Mike has made some big decisions that he feels will make the offense and special teams more efficient. They are still working out the kinks, but you can already see the fruits of that labor.

It also speaks to Aaron's initial total deflation after the Jordy injury, just with that total knowledge of all the work he and the staff were doing after how close they came the season before. The goal is to find ways to win and not ways to lose. You get the sense that all three phases of our team are steadily improving and finding ways to grind the games out.

That was overall team wide self shitting.

Mike needs to get their heads together. I do think they're on the right track.
