Steelers are in cap trouble. Go to PFT, the reference is posted.

Yes, and they just won a Super Bowl.

So I guess the argument is laid to rest now.

We don't build like the Steelers do, and in return we don't have the success they do

I gave you a +1 for the map Dfoster the other don't realize the shit i hear everyday from all the Steeler fans. I mean they have to contend with Bears, Vikes and Lion fans; I have to put up with fans that win every year. I find it hard to hold my head high at times but i do it, they wanted to buy me a Steeler Jersey to wear and i refused it. They did buy me a terrible towel and i accepted that because i needed a new bowling ball rag. Look at all the Polls and it shows the Steeler and Packer fans are always 1a and 1b . I wonder how many of these people could hold there head up everyday and face the bashing i get from fans of super bowl champions. I may sound negative on this board but its because i want a damn winner probably more than alot of you, just so i could throw it back in there faces. The lastest i'm getting is , will Ted Thompson leave Collins walk and then start Smith and then they laugh about one of our big free agent signings is a reject the Steelers didn't want.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

from the article

Thompson's philosophy, and it's followed by other salary-cap savvy teams like the Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers

1st thing that made me laugh was some Wisconsin writer comparing the Packers with the likes of the Pats and Steelers. Steelers have 2 Super Bowls and the Pats have 3 and we have 0 and have 2 out of 4 losing seasons. Get real idiot lol

Instead of blasting the author for what you deem to be an idiot article, why not support your theroy with facts?

But the principle of the way they draft, free agents and re-signing are similar that is what the author was saying..

not that the teams have the same success.. ::roll:

"longtimefan" wrote:

you know your always telling people to find proof to back their ideas why dont you start doing that LTF? The Pats get big name players, we don't. My proof is the likes Harrison, Seau, Thomas and they make trades like Moss, and Welker and they also do alot of trading up.

"dhazer" wrote:

Really, seemed like they traded back about 6 times this past year.

For the second time on Day 2 of the 2009 NFL Draft, the Patriots have traded down

It was a busy day for Bill Belichick, who pulled off two trade-downs to accumulate more picks

Patriots moved back two spots to add two picks that were parlayed into three more selections in a trade with the Packers.

That was 3 times on this year draft they traded down

So sounds like your right go.go

Here is a LINK to back up YOUR claims

Wish I ha d a link to show NE is always trading up

Here is last years

http://internet128.com/index.php/2008/04/26/new-england-patriots-2008-draft/

Round 1, Pick 7 (7) Traded to Saints for overall picks 10 and 78.

Round 3, Pick 6 (69) Traded to Chargers for 160 in 08 and 2nd round 09

You're catching crap from people in Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, New York, Connecticut... you either travel a lot or have quite the crap catcher on your head.

No, seriously, I know what you're saying. This is one thing that makes it easier for me to stay objective. All I hear about is soccer. Of course I'm getting some bias from being on a Packers forum way to much, but still, it's a bit easier.

Sorry about putting you north of Pittsburgh, I know you are pretty much due east. It was a "I'm too lazy while making this map" kind of thing.

+1 back at you for all the crap you have to take.

I have to listen to all them Steeler fans. Then I also get to listen to all those Eagle fans. Then I get to listen to the Steeler fans fighting with the Eagle fans. This will, of course, cause the Ravens fans to pipe in, which naturally brings in the Jets fans, which in turn infuriates the Giants fans (Token shoutout to the 6 NE Patriots fans [uncircled on map- they are originally from El Salvadore so I no habla their smack-talk] One Cleveland Brown fan (Also a pro bookie---real nice guy and loyal) One Bear fan (Remember him- he sits in corner--banned from all smack-talk conversation)

And the friggin' Redskin fans-- serious smack exchanged with yours truly--all pretty good fellas, I must admit.

One Dolphin fan. He is also gay. (Not that there is anything wrong with that, but in redneck land the team colors have drawn commentary from various...well, rednecks.)

Zero Vikes fans. They are actually very rare along the megalopolis, at least the mid-atlantic section, in my experience.

Two Chiefs fans. Resigned to their fate--see Browns fan.

And then there are the "imports" Mostly Jets/Giants fans--- changing on a weekly basis... Usually in town for something work related...These are the ones that can create safety issues for all concerned, dependent largely upon how much they have been putting away, coupled with how much I have been putting away, along with all the regulars from opposing teams---call them the equivalent of an internet troll with the possibility of actually getting a yuengling bottle square upside the head. See redneck references.

Many, many many Packer plan b fans. These are the ones that switch allegiances once their team tanks and/or pisses them off. Many of both the Eagle and Steeler fans do this, because there is NO WAY that they can switch to each other's team...except the half that do, and usually trying to do so incognito, which never, ever works.

Then there are the non-committed. This is the interesting group for any Wisconsin reader.

The percentage of those that are casual Packer fans way the hell out here in PA would amaze. These are my potential recruits, and after about a 12 pack, I actively recruit (or so I have been told, lol)

And of course you have the Cowboy fans. They stay the f##k away from Dfosterf when he is sober, much less when putting them away. :thumbleft:

There are a lot of them, and they are a very quiet bunch, let me tell you. They get taunted, ridiculed, sworn at...you name it. Why? some might ask.

See all of above previously mentioned fans. Every single one of them are chomping at the bit to start something with those Cowgirl a##-holes.

The cheer when the 'boys get scored on/lose is universal. They are not authorized to cheer when they score, with very few exceptions, and NEVER beyond a 1 PM game. Alcohol consumption issues.

This is what it is like living in the transportation hub for the Eastern Seaboard, with so many teams in such reasonably close proximity, coupled with the in-between nature of the Iggle/Steeler rivalry.

(The bear fan has to stay in his corner because he is too passionate and no one gives a shit here. :thumbleft: )

I can't draw a map of this scene, but it quite closely approximates the bar scene in that Star Wars flick, except you have to put jerseys on everyone.

The Jurassic Park Velociraptor cage also catches some of the ambience.

I know I have commented upon this a bit before, but I just wanted to hopefully cheer you up a tad by giving a more complete flick of the whole deal.

Did I mention that bar cues are readily available? This is an "upscale" joint, but it IS in central Pennsylvania, lol. :thumbleft:

So, there is my long version of the map description.

You guys are lucky ...

Me, Rock and all the other packers fans in europe get to listen to soccer and wierd sports like tennis or cricket <<< is this really a sport? ... and stuff like that.

while I can get in mini arguments with people that know very little about american football (I have to say that cuz most peeps here think football is soccer in the UK) ...

I am actually excited to talk to people; mostly americans (but where I live there are 0 americans) that like some team - but they are usually to blind to see the truth - that the Pack is Back and will dominate this coming year!

btw is there anyone else form london on these forums?

- edit - I was at a bar last nite and ran into some british chick that was trying to talk trash about the packers and she said the patriots have won more superbowls then the pack. Bah I need to know my stats; they have won the same amount ya? oh course the pack has won more championships etc

Sounds fun, Foster-Dave. I'll have to go there once if I get to America. I'd say i'd drink a beer with you, but I don't drink beer at all. Even if I did, I don't know why I'd go to Penn. Or how I'm ever going to pay for the trip.

But, that's all stuff for later on. An amusing story to lighten things up in the midst of the Favre-wars.

EDIT: And Dulak, didn't see your post. I have yet to find anyone here who knows anything about football, so I'm trying to convert a friend. One little thing, something went wrong and he turned into a Patriots fan after seeing Brady play in the 2007 season. I've given up hope by now.

American Ex-Pats London

In answer to your question...

The Pack Crushed the Raiders, Chiefs and her vaunted Patriots.

The Cheatriots also had their asses handed to them by the Bears and Giants.

They have snuck by the lowly Rams, Belicheated past some team that might still be in the league in '04, and were less incompetent than the Eagles in 05. All 3 wins by a total of about 9 stinking points.

So just tell her that they are a .500 team :thumbleft:
