I was uber excited when we drafted brohm, but he has failed to show any improvement. If anything, he gets worse. I don't think we are in the position to waste a roster spot on dead weight. I expect great things from this team, as expect many others do Better backup QB's are available, and I for one hope we pursue themas well. .

VOR,
There may well be better QB's out there. But it would seem to me that the QB's who are released at this time of the year are the 4th-5th string QB's. The teams that will only have 2 QB's most likely will not release their 3rd string QB until the last day of training camp in order to guard against the possibility of injury to one of the QB's that they intend to keep.
It would seem to make the most sense to relplace Brohm next Spring and not now.
If Flynn's injury is serious they will need to look for the vetarn journeyman QB to fill in for a year.

someone like Shaun Hill... oh, wait. He's busy beating out the #1 pick in the 2005 draft for the starting job in San Francisco.

I wonder if the Packers will actively try and trade Brohm (and if that was the reason for him coming in before Flynn last night). I can't see them getting much at all for Brohm at this stage maybe a 5th/6th rounder might be generous, there's no way the Packers will get back a 2nd.

1). Flynn is fine and said he would have gone back in if it were a regular season game.

2). What was up with Brohm on that fumble by Blumpkin?! It looked like he was running the opposite way with his back to the play.

But yes, he sucks quite massively!

yes he looks lost out there, but he has tools , he was awesome in college, right now i think its more a mental thing, so give him a break and lets see him over the next game or 2 and hopefully things get corrected quick !!

JP Lossman is playing in that league to show that he isn't a backup QB and that he can handle a starting job. Being stuck behind ARod wouldn't help his cause.

Interestingly, if J.P. Losman fell 1 more spot, there would have been a very good chance we would have picked him up in 2004.

Why Flynn didn't get the majority of playing time is beyond me, Brohm's a lost cause at this stage.

because the organization KNOWS that Flynn could actually move the team down field already. i think they're trying to force Brohm to get better. but i agree with you, it's a lost cause. i really, honestly don't think he has it in him. i think at *best* Brohm will be able to get a few first downs and not turn the ball over but i don't think he's meant to be a QB in the NFL.

I agree with Twinkiegorilla.

I'm thinking the Vikes cut loose T. Jackson and we pick him up and let Mcarthy work his QB magic on him. More salt in the wound that is Brent Favre.

Having Rodgers (and the team) beat the Vikings and then letting TJ come in to take the kneel down would be something.

I'd like a more classy approach, though. Take a mercy rule-like approach on them when we're winning. Like we did with the Browns.

Anyway, as to Brohm, he doesn't look too great, obviously. There's still a chance that he can improve. I mean, it's unacceptable that he misses these wide open receivers. He kept overthrowing guys on deep routes. If you look at his college tape a bit, you can see that he can make most of the throws. I don't know what's wrong with him, but I hope that he'll improve fast, or else he might be looking for a job in the UFL/AFL soon. Just like his brother in the XFL.

I would like for Brohm to do well but there isn't really any reason for even a young inexperienced QB to not look good playing against backups while he gets to throw to WR like James Jones and Jordy Nelson.

beast (8-Aug) : But the Return from IR designations had to be applied by the 53 man cutdown.
beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Apparently it is too complicated for several to follow your simple instructions, but I digress

dfosterf (5-Aug) : I'm going to call that a good move.
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Packers sign CB Corey Ballentine
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : I'm not sure how to kill the draft order just yet so it's not so confusing.
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : *to be able
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : and because it's not a dynasty league (which makes a lot more sense to be ability to trade picks)
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Oh I know; I was just exploring and it blew my mind that you could trade picks because of the whole reordering thing
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Zero, I think I preferred my offer: your 1st for my 15th rounder
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Keep in mind, we do a draft reorder once all members locked in
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : You can have my 12th Rd for your 2nd round
