I can't call this good or bad. Doing nothing would have been bad. Can Green make a difference, maybe. It is worth a try. What do we have to lose really, a little money.

Maybe Green can revive our screen game, alone would be worth the price of admission.

I don't think it's going to do a whole lot for us, to be honest. I'm more curious as to why Lumpkin wasn't promoted up. But he wasn't so I can't dwell on that.

I think Green will do KR and come in on some 3rd down plays.

Just looked at a list and saw a name that would of been without a doubt better imo. Warrick Dunn. Had a pretty solid year in TB last year too.

I do like Dunn a lot, but has he played in a west coast offense before? How long would it take for him to get going? And he's 34 which is I think 2 years older than Green.

Did some research and apparently he has been playing in a WCO his whole career.

Really? I didn't know that. I was thinking with TB he was because I think he was under Gruden's offense, right? Then at Atlanta I'm pretty sure he was there too because that was something that was held against Vick, that he couldn't run a WCO.

"GOPACKGO1225" wrote:

In the beginning when he was in Tampa, they were not running the WCO. Gruden didn't arrive until 2002 when Dunn was shipped to Atlanta, who definatley wasnt' running the WCO.

I think Dunn has 1 year experience with the offense, last year in his return to Tampa.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

Do a quick google search. Punch in "Warrick Dunn West Coast Offense" and you will see a few pages talking about it. He clearly would of been the better option.

I'm not disputing the WCO, I believe that. I was just shady in my memory. As for clearly being a better option with Dunn at 34 than Green at 30 who's familiar with the offense and some of the players? I can't agree with you on that one.

Dunn's best feature was his speed and elusiveness. He's lost a lot in both of those area's. We'll soon find out how much Green has lost.

Back in August Dunn was contacted by Seattle and Philly and they both passed

I'm still pissed we kept Wynn instead of Sutton.

I'm not. You can't go into the year with Grant and Sutton as your RB's. I will say, I'd rather have had Sutton kept on board instead of the third FB though.

Ok, how about if I say I'm pissed Carolina took him from our PS only to stick him in as the #4 RB on their team and never let him see the field. Bastards...

Not trying to be a dick, but seriously, go play Madden. Personnel decisions aren't about getting a brand named guy -- particularly in the case of a 34 year old RB. I'm not suggesting the Green signing is going to impact things immensely.

But c'mon, it should hardly be considered "research" seeing that Dunn played in a west-coast system and therefore would have been a better selection.

Hey guys, Shawn Alexander and Priest Holmes are out there too! Those are big names!

William Henderson didn't have to run people over. His preferred method was levitation.

I would have been good with 4 RB's ... Grant, Jackson, Wynn, Sutton and then Kuhn and Quinn for FB. Then cut Wynn after Sutton proves he can handle it and when Jackson is healed, then pick up a Tackle! lol

I don't think the Packers brought Ahman back for the running game but for his blocking abilities. He was a good blocker in the good days when he was with the packers. But, I don't like this move at all, I'd rather have Dominic Rhodes on our team than Green. Let's see if he can teach Ryan Grant how to run the football and not just fall down when some lays a pinkie on him.

Well, I hope Green shows all the naysayers up and proves to be a huge addition to the team.

I don't care if he is 32 years old if he is an upgrade over Grant.

Long live Ahman Green!

+1 kingdom! I agree about the blocking, but also would have preferred rhodes.

I know that options are limited, at best, by this point, but is Ted Thompson only going to look at packer retreads to get through this season? I heard hornung, levens, and frank winters are still around.

Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Site will die, I have to restart it.

beast (30-Jul) : How did Quinn Ewers effect where Golden was drafted?
dfosterf (30-Jul) : All I've experienced was late at night or early morning. I just figured you were doing something in the background
