I don't know why we keep rehashing getting new lineman this year.

I don't freaking whine.. I state my opinions, sometimes they are not in agreement with the currently thought process of our front office.

Let's take Green for example, what exactly did they see in him over some of the other looks they had at other backs?

Is it experience? History tells you this regime is light on the experience factor. We will see whining when you are toting the buck up the hillside. ;)

He has been noted to have questionable hands and an injury history..

Don't get me wrong.. ton of talent in his day, but it really makes you wonder in how they rate players.

Its not just about making any old move Zero...its about making a LEGIT move. Its about making a move that will have a major impact on the team, not a minor impact or no impact at all.

I want to with hold judgement till he touches the field but I can't right now because what positive can he do behind this offensive line that Ryan Grant and Brandon Jackson can't?

It's not bitching, it is concern. Why the hell do we re-sign a possible washed up running back when there are SO many other concerns with this team?

Also, when rumors of trades are posted and discussed 4 (edit) pages in, picking up Ahman Green and landing none of those rumored trades is a let down....big time.

Questionable hands? I have to disagree. I think he's good at catching the ball out of the backfield.

Injury history, yep. No arguing that one. Which is why I was okay to see him go, especially at the contract he got.

How they evaluate talent? I think they throw names in a hat and just pick one.

As for Green being signed. I don't see the huge backlash on this, not by you pack93z, just people in general. In spot duty I think he'll be better than Wynn. If Grant or Jackson goes down, I think we move Lumpkin up and ahead of Green too. I don't think we'll see Green as the primary back, no matter what.

I think they will have him on kick returns too (even though he has not done it since his first two years with Seattle). I think he'd be more of a blocker than actual primary returner. I think Swain will be the main return guy.

Hands as in ball security issues.. my bad.. not clear.

I have no real issue with the signing.. I am intrigued by there rating/ranking system for selecting players.

You are aware we put Wynn on IR, right? I think that's why we signed a RB. Could we have found better? Possibly, I do not know. But I sure as heck won't bitch about Ahman Green being signed. He's familar with the team, the offense (to a degree) and he loves being a Packer and to me that means he'll do whatever that is asked of him. AND, I don't think he'll be asked to do much, at all.

The Rams told Jackson they were not going to trade him. Getting a different RB, well, like others have said, we need our OL to be better before we worry about RB. I agree. I also think we if our OL quits the penalties a bit, the coach calls more runs ... our OL and running game will be better for it.

We're 3 - 2 and have some "easy" games coming up, minus Vikings. There's still time.

Yes, I am aware that we put Wynn on IR but even you said above that IF Grant and Jackson were hurt, you would put Lumpkin in front of Green. I just think it was a move made to hush Pack fans up about signing someone or making a trade.

I figured the trades rumored were never going to happen. My hopes were too high at one point then I was brought back to reality. I don't think Ahman Green is a negative signing, just a soft move.

I was looking for a boom.

Anyways, I agree with what you said about the offensive line. It is all going to start with them. Hopefully these easy games help us a bit. Maybe Green can take a good amount of carries against the Browns as well.

After five years you still get your hopes up over a mid season trade? Sorry, that's on you, man. 🙂

I'm not saying just ME would put Lumpkin in over Green, I'm saying that's the Packers approach. I hope.

Again, Green will not get a bulk of carries. He will not be asked to do a lot. My opinion of course.

Now, if they brought Green in with the premise of competing with Grant for carries, that's bogus in my opinion.

Green, I think he fits perfect for what we need him for. And we don't need him to tote the rock 15 - 20 times, shit, Grant doesn't even get that many!

I don't really see him helping all that much. Seems like just more of a nostalgic move.

"Zero2Cool" wrote:

Because the Packers are in such a nostalgic point in the season with their depth, right?

Give me a break.

I think we all should understand Green was not brought in to be the savior of our running game, that time has long passed for Green.

I believe he was brought in for 3rd downs (Green is a great receiving RB) and probably to return kicks.

Used sparingly, I think Green will be a positive asset, more than Wynn was.

Im not happy with this deal ... Out of all the running backs in the league this was our best pick? a guy whom is 32 and was kicked off his last team?

I'm going to reserve judgement for green here; Ill be happy if he does well but honestly Im quite wary of this deal. Seems more like a fan appeasement deal if anything.

oh ya ... do you mean to tell me green is better then danny woodhead (He has also recorded 9,259 all purpose yards, which ranks second on the NCAA all-time list. Brian Westbrook (Villanova, 1997 - 2001) currently holds the record with 9,512 total yards of offense.)

Ill be watching the jets to see how woodhead does.

Im getting a bit frustrated by the managements decisions of late

How about we dont run 90% of the plays up the middle for starters - least with a guy that cant find a hole and cant make cuts or evade tackles. Heck you see ray rice of the ravens this weekend? ...
I dont even know what a broken tackle is anymore

Well maybe at least we wont have our corners or wide-outs returning kicks.
